How to Wear Plaid this Fall!

Major Plaid-itude! Cool grungy look with a modern touch!

By now you all know that I have a huge affinity for Zara. What would I do without my Zara ?!? Wearing Zara is my way to stay in style and on trend without breaking the bank. This mega retailer offers affordable of the moment pieces that can be easily mixed with luxe wares and is absolutely perfect for anyone who loves a good high-low ensemble, and my latest look does not disappoint. Starting with a simple yet polished oversized checkered tunic with frills, I paired or should I say layered it with an adorable tule dress. And in true MJ fashion, layering is the key. I really took a liking to layering, it makes it so easy to make any outfit more versatile. I enjoy playing dress up in my closet, and I often like to wear a midi skirt under a tunic or a dress to add texture and dimensions.

The extra-long bell sleeves are adding a bit of drama.

Along with my look du jour, I paired my Valentino booties to add a touch of ladylike daytime glamour. The best part? You can nab my exact tunic for $69.90 to upgrade your jeans for the end of fall. Shop the details below if you are into channeling my look.

Now while we often look to celebrities for sartorial inspiration, it makes it even sweeter when they wear items we can actually afford. As high-street favorites like Zara, H&M and Forever 21 continue to turn out stylish pieces that look far more expensive than they are, it’s no wonder our favorite bloggers are increasingly inclined to wear these low-cost brands despite their ability to don designer duds. Which is a total bonus for us cause let's face it ladies, who isn't a little proud to boast that they got such and such an item at Zara when friends and colleagues are gushing about how stylish you look.

Plaid frocks are a daily staple in every fall wardrobe, and with current iterations boasting frill sleeves (big trend right now and one that I am so into) on shirts to jackets and/or coats, you can start your day with an effortless look and seamlessly head out for a glass of wine (or two) once the clock strikes five. Or noon. Whatever floats your boat 😉

Same dress two ways:

I also paired that same tulle dress (that I cannot get enough of BTW) with the cargo jacket to give you an idea of a different vibe or look with the same dress. You can and should definitely wear it by itself on your next vacation somewhere sunny and warm but layering it is a must for colder weather, although I am still in full denial and defiantly refuse to wear stockings until I can no longer bare it :-)
