What to Wear on New Year’s Eve

As the year comes to end we say goodbye to old habits and old trends and hello to new resolutions new styles. I always like wearing something glamorous on New Year’s because any excuse to get all dolled up is one I’ll take! Don’t get me wrong, I can rock sweats and slippers all year round, but something about the music, the party, the ball dropping… it just gets me in the mood for shimmer and gold.

Before the 31st of December grows dark, I take some much needed time to sit and reflect on what my year looked like. What were my achievements? What were my greatest moments? What were my losses? And, Would I have done anything differently? I take the time to thank the people I love for just being in my life and letting me love them the best way I know how and I take a moment to get my priorities in check so I can start the year off right. When all that’s done, I set it all aside and get ready to celebrate my butt off, because it’s only New Year’s Eve once a year!

This year, I’m going to celebrate in style. I’ve always made a conscious effort to support local retailers and I wasn’t about to stop for this year. I’m still not quite sure where I will ring in the new year, but I will definitely be with my husband, kids, and mother in Florida. I put together a just-in-case look as a plan B for if I decide to hit the South Beach scene with friends, and of course, it’s a very accessible look for all those ready to party – everything is available at Rockland Centre at one of my favourite stores: Maska Mode.

Maska Mode has such a finely curated collection of European clothing – high trends mixed with classic pieces – the perfect place to get outfitted for any occasion. They have everything from ready-to-wear fashion-forward dresses, pants, and tops to accessories and other items to jazz up your ensemble. All imported directly from Italy, Maska Mode is a family-run business that gives local retailers the finest shopping experience.

I seriously turned up the glitz with this sophisticated look: perfect for hosting or a dinner party. I paired an asymmetrical one-shoulder gold-foil top with a pleated elastic band floor-length skirt. I’m usually more of a short skirt kind of girl, but I was immediately drawn to this black beauty; it has so many beautiful details, and I personally think it elongates my lower half, giving the sense that I’m taller than I really am.

If you’re staying home but want to look fabulous, my earrings are from Holt Renfrew. Adding jewellery accessories to any outfit is what takes it from ordinary to extraordinary (seriously, throw on some collar-bone length earrings with a t-shirt and jeans and you instantly feel you’re walking the runway!).

Whatever your plans are for the end of 2018, I hope it’s meaningful and brings you happiness. Let’s say goodbye to 2018 and welcome 2019 with positive energy, lightness, and laughter. I wish you all a happy and healthy new year!

Enjoy NYE and celebrate in style!

xoxo
