Boho Vibes

There are but a few spaces in Montreal that have created these hidden getaways, a place to go and just let loose. By playing around with colour, decorative props, and creative stylings, I introduce you to Boho, a restaurant located in the heart of Old Montreal. Step into Boho and feel you’ve travelled through time and space; Miami Vice Art Deco meets NYC vibes. A place for the 5 à 7 crowd, and a space to grab a bite while sipping on their playful cocktail menu

Boho is the sister restaurant to Venice, and for those of you in-the-know, Clandestino Mezcal: the tequila/mesquite speakeasy that takes the you from after-work to late-night through their secret staircase. Few businesses in this city break us out of our cozy Montreal village and whisk us away to big-city feels, but Charles Manceau created Boho and this place delivers in spades. I’ve never seen anything quite like it, and obviously people in this city have fallen in love with the space because they just recently celebrated their 2-year anniversary and the party was bustling!

Is it the décor that has people taking those insta-worthy selfies? The perfect backdrop for a photo, Boho has fabulous green-leaf wallpaper, pink floors, turquoise seating and immense trees hanging around for that perfect 80s throwback. Or, is it the eclectic cocktail menu replete with tropical flavours and top-shelf tequilas and other fan favourites? Personally, I can’t restrain myself from the poke bowls, tacos (and guac, obviously!), and yummy tacos. I think what I love most about Boho (and Venice) is that the menus accommodate all dietary needs, so when my picky palate wants vegan or gluten-free options, they’ve got plenty to pick from.

Montreal has always had a great nightlife, it’s kind of what put us on the map. Charles and I are very familiar with the scene as I first met him back in my heyday. So maybe that’s why he was able to infuse his restos with just the right amount of energy to keep the place revved up. Boho attracts that 5 à 7 crowd; a place to go after work to grab a drink, unwind, and transition out of work-mode.

Bright and fun, that laid-back boho vibe is what gives this place its name. A neighbourhood bar right in the middle of all the action, Boho engages all of the senses from the perfect music and colourful lights to scintillating flavours. Every time I go I try something new; I’m always discovering something new in our little sunny Florida right here in Mtl.

Oh! and for those who love to bring the resto home - Manceau’s cookbookLa cuisine fraîcheur du Venice” that is not only beautiful, but super yummy!
