Finding the balance between being a mom and lifestyle blogger isn’t easy. I’m always juggling caring for my daughters with the chaos of store openings, restaurant tastings, photo-shoots and the rest. With my hubby constantly travelling for work, slipping away to attend Fashion Week isn’t an easy feat. But I wasn’t going to pass up the chance to support a few of my favorite Canadian designers, so I convinced my mom to take over at home so that I can experience Toronto’s WMC Fashion Week in 24 hours.
I landed at the YTZ Toronto city airport to save time and make the most of my short-lived experience; I’m never flying to Pearson again, this couldn’t be more convenient! With my suitcase in hand, the first stop was a beauty oasis in the heart of King Street West, Ritual. They offer everything from mani’s & pedi’s to face treatments, blow-outs, and waxing in a bright, modern space that entices you to spend the day primping.
The glam squad stepped in to work their hair and makeup magic and get me runway show ready. My makeover began with side-swept bangs and soft, natural waves styled by Stuart. I’m having a lot of fun with my new fringe and trying tons of new looks.
I was lucky enough to have my makeup done by the owner, Maria Cristina. She introduced me to great new products like Dermalogica’s Redness Relief Primer, Ritual’s Sculpt & Glow palette (perfect for contouring, look at the video!), and Stila Lipstick (Olivia #5 is the best nude shade and the formula smells great). While she worked on producing a natural glow and smoky eye, Maria also gave me tons of useful tips and tricks of the trade.
Once styled and ready, I checked into the hotel with only 7 minutes to spare. I changed into my OOTN and rushed out the door to catch the Pink Tartan presentation. Stay tuned for a post all about their beautiful collection!
In the midst of it all, I forgot to charge my phone and faced a fashion bloggers nightmare: 1% battery! With the Mackage show starting in less than an hour, I began my frantic search for an outlet. Thanks to Elisa, I had the incredible experience of heading backstage in the middle of all the action. I had no idea how much organization and work went on behind the scenes and was super impressed by the entire process. Seeing how relaxed the designers were in such a fast-paced, stressful environment was beyond inspirational.
I went back to the front of house, where the Mackage show began in full force. I was completely blown away so stand by for a post on their collection and my must-haves for spring! The brand is notorious for their vibrant, perfectly orchestrated after parties. Cars waited outside the show to bring us to an exclusive dinner at the cities newest hot spot, Omaw.
Everything from dinner and drinks, to fab gift bags, and another round of photo booth fun with friends, made for an amazing night out in Toronto. The music was great and it’s always a blast letting loose with this crew! As much as I love being a mom, it’s important to enjoy these brief moments where all I have to worry about is myself. After some drinks and dancing, I couldn’t wait to take off my heels and jump into bed back at the hotel.

Another gem about being away from home: sleeping in!!! I needed to recuperate from the day before, so I ordered some room service and worked in bed. As soon as I regained my strength, I needed to fit in a little bit of shopping before heading home. I went to TNT, 119 Corbo, Intermix and Holts for some fall/winter essentials. With my bags in hand, it was off the airport and back to my mommy duties. Welcome to a day in the life of a mom/blogger!
