Lov Restaurant

I enjoy cooking as much as the next chef, but sometimes I need a little inspiration to get me going. This year has been especially hard without getting a break from the kitchen. I have probably ordered more dinners this past year than I have in my entire life combined! But, rather than just a simple straight up takeout or delivery, I have enjoyed some of the creative ways restaurants have upped the ante on recreating the resto experience in your own home.

A couple weeks ago I tried the Lov takeout box from Lov Restaurant, our very own vegan resto in Montreal. A beloved favourite for many vegans and vegetarians alike, I have personally enjoyed dining there dozens of times and absolutely love the vibe and décor of the place. So serene, it feels like you’re entering a vacation even if only for an hour or so.

So when I found out that Lov put together these pre-packed dinners that you can cook at home, I jumped at the opportunity to chef it up in my own kitchen. The fun of it is that you get to cook without any of the prep and very minimal clean up. Plus, you know it’ll taste great, because basically all you’re doing is warming things up. Lol!

The Cari Coco is one of my favourite flavour profiles, so it was a simple choice for us. It is filled with healthy and nutritious veggies like carrots and butternut squash, and has the freshness of lime and coriander. The creaminess of the coconut and cashews is also such a nice light touch over basmati rice.

An easy dish to prepare, I can’t express enough how simple it is to prepare. One of the things that often turns me off about ordering takeout is that by the time it gets to your home it’s soggy or cold. But, with this thoughtful touch of everything being vacuum packed, it seals in flavours and freshness so the dish tastes like you’re at the restaurant. Cut to me getting all dressed up for date night at home.

I love Lov and can’t wait to hit up the restaurant for real, heels clicking as I strut my way to a table, laughing with friends and enjoying a nice relaxing girls night out. Until then, I will kick back and soak in these creative ways that our local restaurants have developed their businesses to adapt to our reality. Cheers Lov!
