Apple picking

Apple picking season lasts from mid-August to late October in Quebec and is a popular activity. It’s a wonderful family day out, an opportunity to intake fresh autumn air, while gathering fruit and watching your children runabout and play. Fortunately, there are plenty of family-friendly orchards near Montreal catering to those who prefer lines of fruit trees to aisles in grocery shops.
One of my favorite orchards is Quinn Farm, aproximately 40 minutes from Montreal. There is plenty to do including, farmyard activities, visiting the animal barn, hopping on a tractor ride and more... There is also a picnic area where you can enjoy a bottle of wine and fine cheeses (bring your own). In the end, its really about the apples and bringing back bags of them to create all kinds of apple goddies at home. Who can resist the call of apple crumble or hot apple pie with your favorite vanilla ice cream!
When in season, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, apples, pumpkins, squash and even Christmas trees, can also be picked and selected at Quinn Farms. They also sell other produce, such as asparagus and sweet corn and other eats like homemade sausages, baked goods, and various other local products.
