Spring Cleaning : Wardrobe Edition
After a long and very cold winter, spring is finally here and with that comes a whole new highly anticipated wardrobe! It’s time to put away all the heavy jackets, chunky knitwear, and cozy layers that we’ve been piling on to stay warm and bring out last seasons oldies but goodies. One of my favorite things is this spring/summer cleaning of my closet, where every year I find a ton of items I forgot I even had (Can you blame me after 6 months of winter apparel?!) While many people associate being fashionable with getting the newest designer collections and following trends, I truly believe it’s all about classic pieces and incorporating the old with the new as well as low to high end garments for the ultimate style.
It’s really important to go through your entire wardrobe before heading to the boutiques for some retail therapy. It’s a great way to familiarize yourself with the clothes you have and to avoid buying multiples of the same styles. While you can never get enough perfect white tees and curve-hugging denim, you always want to shop smart and make the most of what has been tucked away in those drawers. There’s no better feeling than rediscovering last seasons favorites and those staple items that will be the foundation of your wardrobe. It’s like falling in love all over again!
When I was switching my boots for strappy sandals and colorful flats, I found so many exciting pieces that I couldn’t wait to wear. It all started with a knit Missoni scarf, perfect for spring and summer, that I love to throw on for an added touch of flair. Paired with a neutral or nude tone jacket, the rich tones and print of the accessory really pops! This is one of those classic items that will be trending for years to come.
Perched along the shelves with clutches, satchels and more, I also rediscovered the YSL Muse Bag. This handbag was THE one to have just a few seasons ago and I’ve always loved it for its timeless shape and effortless style. You can never go wrong with Yves Saint Laurent!
Before you get tempted by all the floral dresses, cream blazers and pastel leather jackets adorning the storefronts, make sure to take an exploratory trip in your own closet. You’ll be surprised by how many things you forgot were hanging in there!
