New York Fashion Week SS16

There are certain moments that all fashion bloggers anticipate and being invited to New York Fashion Week is definitely at the top of the list. What better way to make my debut in the city that never sleeps than to attend BCBG Max Azria’s Spring-Summer 2016 runway show. With my photographer by my side and more luggage than I’m willing to admit for such a short getaway, it was time to experience the chaos of NYFW.

When we arrived in New York, we went straight to the Gansevoort Park Hotel to get settled. While I usually stay in the Meatpacking district, I absolutely fell in love with this hotel and location! From the rooftop pool & terrace (with breathtaking views) as well as amazing restaurants still drooling over Ristorante Asellina’s pizza, to the gym ballet barre classes, and Juice Press bar – this hotel has it all!

After exploring the amenities, I couldn’t resist lounging by the poolside and taking it all in for a moment. I quickly changed into a swimsuit and Isabel Marant dress that’s perfect as a cover-up. After a few impromptu photo shoots and a refreshing dip in the pool, it was time for some shopping! I swapped swimwear for a bandeau bra and shorts under this IM dress for a quick and easy, casual-chic look. With Starbucks in hand, we ventured towards 5th Avenue to scour some of my fave boutiques (stay tuned for my NYC shopping guide).

New York City is one of those incredible places where you feel the difference in energy and can’t help but be swept away by its vibrancy. Of course, you have some of the best shopping in the world but there’s also wonderful architecture, museums, and amazing food & restaurants. It really is one of the best places to explore and escape from my mommy duties for a New York minute.

It was time for the big show on the morning of Thursday September 10 at The Arc at Moynihan Station. The scene was nothing short of amazing with the crème de la crème of the fashion world; from magazine editors and celebs to renowned bloggers and the most photographers I’ve ever seen in my life! While the noise and crowd of perfectly styled guests were slightly overwhelming, I eventually made my way to my seat, excited for the show to begin.

The moment the music cued and the light went on, the chaos of the room completely faded and all eyes were on the runway. The SS2016 BCBG Max Azria show kicked off with super bohemian and California inspired looks. Pastel and vivid colored frocks in all prints, textures, and fabrics came flowing down the catwalk. Unique patchwork bucket hats, knits, and layers were the foundation of this beautiful, free-spirited collection.

After months of preparation, the show was over in a mere 20 minutes and the room was buzzing while everyone discussed the looks and rushed off to the next unveiling. I was truly blown away by BCBG’s show! I’ve loved the boho-chic trend ever since it surfaced and this collection encompassed the best of bohemian fashion. I fell head over heels for the colorful prints and fabrics, luxe knitwear, and fringe accessories. I already have my wish list and am counting the days to shop these looks!

I couldn’t be more thrilled with my first experience at NYFW. I loved the fast-paced energy and excitement of the show as well as spotting fellow fashion bloggers in the flesh (and comparing outfits! Unwinding at the Gansevoort Park, shopping until I couldn’t feel my feet, and eating some of the most delicious meals we’re pretty great as well. Infinite thanks to BCBG for having me :-) and sending me the "fashion week survival kit", I’m already looking forward to next season!
