A brand new eatery located in the heart of the Old Port has everyone in the city talking & vying for a table! After just one evening at Jellyfish crudo+charbon, I get what all the hype is about! From the décor to the delectable dishes, this restaurant is so amazing its already become one of my favorite spots in the city.

The mastermind behind this concept is Francis Rodrigue, a veteran in the industry with 22 restaurants under his belt. You probably remember him as the genius behind Vauvert in Hotel St Paul. I remember so many good nights spent drinking and dancing to Jojo Flores’s on the turntables – such good vibes!

The culinary genius behind the menu is Chef Mathieu Masson-Duceppe, a winner on the television series “Chopped Canada.” He has travelled the world developing his craft and has a penchant for international spices. Surprisingly enough, Francis and Mathieu met on vacation at Club Med where they bonded over beer as well as their passion for Caribbean style raw & grilled flavors. This led the their partnership and the creation of Jellyfish.

Situated on the corner of McGill and Wellington, everything from the ultra modern space is absolutely stunning. The 16-footceilings are draped in a medley of chandeliers and industrial lights. Huge glass windows brighten the minimalist, chic restaurant. The eatery is full of incredible details that make each corner feel cozy and unique, blending contemporary and vintage design elements. I’m also really into the Scandinavian style wooden seating!

As a self-proclaimed foodie and restaurant addict, I have to say that I’ve never tried anything like this before. Every meal on the menu is perfectly balanced and the flavors are tantalizing! The salmon belly and the scallop Carpaccio were the most outstanding raw dishes. If you’re in the mood for comfort food, go for the Scotch egg or lobster bacon mash! The charcoaled heirloom carrots served with honey whipped ricotta and crispy croutons is oh so heavenly! I also couldn’t get enough of the miso cod and ceasar cauliflower.

I really can’t wait to go back and try everything on the menu all over again! It was great to see Robbie (Roberto Pesut), who formerly owned Globe on St Laurent, running the show on the floor. The staff was fantastic and we had impeccable service all night. I highly recommend that you head over there ASAP! They’re offering a mouthwatering 4-course dinner on Valentine’s Day, so book a table with your lover before it’s too late!
