Profile: Anine Bing

Launched in 2012, Anine Bing has seriously taken the fashion world by storm. Based out of Los Angeles, the former-model/singer created a modern day fashion house for the “new woman.” Who is the new woman you ask? Good question. Like most brands, the designs focus on taking a look from day to night, as the pieces are versatile and can be worn in a corporate atmosphere as much as a concert or night on the town. Where Bing stands out is that not only is the company for women by women, but the Bing look boasts bold, yet simple, strong, yet delicate. The perfect balance, if you ask me.

Fashion is probably the most accessible way for us to express ourselves. If you find the right fit, look, pieces to compliment your style and body type, fashion can also be a source of confidence. Drawing her inspiration from music, travel and the streets of LA, Bing is all about making a woman feel like the best version of herself.

Anine Bing staples are luxurious and they are all infused with edgy and feminine touches. By combining essentials with statement pieces, Bing has found her way into my closet ten times over. From the moment I slipped into my first skirt, I was hooked. I have a few of her graphic tees, and for those who don’t know, graphic tees are not just reserved for concert memorabilia. Now, Gucci, Prada and every other major fashion house has signature tees to pair with denim, trousers, skirts, and shorts. From fancy to casual and everything in between, Bing is super chic and always rock’n’roll.

I don’t think Anine Bing herself knew just how huge her label was going to be when she debuted less than a decade ago. Now, she has 10 stores worldwide – kind of insane brand power. Originally from Denmark, Bing didn’t start out as a designer. Instead, she parlayed a fast-growing Blog/Instagram following into a business. So it first started out as a digital store, but the response was so positive, that she added more pieces and eventually brick-and-mortar stores.

I believe it was the Charlie boot that first put Anine Bing on the map, but with quick fire, the lace bra went viral and then it was anything goes from then on. It’s crazy what a little organic celebrity endorsement can do for a brand, but legit, Bing backs it up with the goods. She has a great eye and I have yet to try something on that I don’t instantly love.

I paired one of my favourite Lili Tee with the orange Bar Slip Skirt and threw the Dylan coat over to tie it all in (plus it was kind of cold). I played the colours off each other and I used my petite stature to show some ankle with a short black bootie. I’ve also been rocking my whole short-hair-don’t-care look lately, and I feel it’s bringing out a different vibe in my outfits! With the fall leaves turning, casting the perfect palette as a background, it was the perfect timing for such an outfit. What are your favourite fall looks?
