The Creuset Dinner Table

Although we it’s been a while since we’ve been able to host big gatherings, I still take great pride in setting an extravagant table for my family. In my home, the art of the tablescape is not reserved for fancy affairs only, we treat ourselves to festive, colourful Le Creuset stove-to-table dinnerware, elaborate centrepieces and of course, getting dressed up!

It’s probably one of my favourite modes of self-expression: hosting. Everything from planning a menu and guest list to setting the table, getting my outfit together and setting the mood with music and good vibes. I can probably trace my love for hosting back to my childhood—every simple gathering turned into a memorable occasion in my family. It’s a part of upbringing I cherish fondly, and as a mother, it’s a joie de vivre I hope to instil in my children.

This holiday season brings a lot of uncertainties. Unclear as to how everything will play out, nothing is stopping me from drawing up plans. Meal prep is easy because there are a few dinner staples my family loves, and those meals are the foundation of some of our traditions. Next is the table. Oh the joy of creating the most beautiful table!

Typically, I go two ways: neutrals like whites, beige or even black accents find their way into my table settings. I can also go more seasonal and bring in colours like orange for fall, blues for winter, pastels for spring or more vibrant colours for summer. But, greens – well, greens have never found their way to my table other than leaves or little potted plants. However, when Le Creuset develops a line of the most stunning greens (sage, teal, Caribbean and palm), I had to find a way to integrate. In fact, it became the star of the show.

With the most stunning deep green, I worked my tablescape around this rustic, vintage green that lent itself to a full panorama of the holiday spirit. I deepened the colour with black accents and metallic chargers. I gave height and lightness to the table with high candles waving throughout the centre. Pine cones brought in the element of nature to pick up on that evergreen, outdoor feeling. The snowflakes added a playful moment recalling the holiday.

It’s nearly a century that Le Creuset has the dinnerware market cornered. Celebrating culinary innovation by introducing the flame-coloured, enamelled cast-iron cocotte, the world over coveted these highly enticing vibrant pieces of kitchenware. Fusing function with beauty, Le Creuset created a new niche in cooking world, and everyone from star-acclaimed chefs to home-chefs needed to have Le Creuset in their kitchen. They became the symbol of the cooking world at large. I remember my wedding registry was just seeping with Le Creuset pieces: I knew it would just bring my kitchen and table to life.

Coming together over a meal is an expression of joy in my family. It’s moments and memories we create together – and those moments deserve colourful Le Creuset pieces! This year might feel pared down, but the tradition in my home will be kept alive. How about you?
