Mother's Day Gift Guide

There is no shortage of amazing gifts to give your mom for Mother’s Day. Unlike a birthday, Mother’s Day to me is a show of gratefulness, an opportunity to say thank you. self-care. It’s a day to celebrate your mom but it’s also a day to let her indulge in herself a little, get her something you know she loves or that she would never buy for herself. I’ve organized my favourite gifts to give and receive in a way that truly captures the Mama in your life. With everything from skincare and clothes to breakfast in bed and time to herself – these are my go-to gifts.

For the Foodie Mama

Quarantine has gotten the best of us when it comes to cooking for what feels like an all-you-can-eat buffet. It’s non-stop in my house! So, I was thinking that an incredible gift for Mother’s Day this year is to give your mama the gift of taking a break from the kitchen! Then again, there are some mamas out there who are truly leaning into their role as top chef, so I included some gear that’ll help her kick things up a notch!

There are so many delicious restaurants that have been coming up with creative packages to make meal time easier during lockdown. Prêt a Table with the caterer Société Traiteur is a great gift because you’ll give your mom a full week of meals already prepped! Why not also throw in one of the most beloved cooking tools: anything from Le Creuset would put a smile on her face! Gentile has boxes put together and of course an extensive take-out menu for home delivery or pick up. I love Rejuice! for their healthy salads, smoothies and cleanses or you could go the other way entirely and gift your Mama a Sweet Tooth macaroon or chocolate-dipped strawberry box. Finally, the Oat Box subscription is an incredible option because by signing up for a healthy breakfast box you’ll be donating a meal to a kid in need. Also, the #itsgoingtobeokay Rainbow Box is 50% off for frontline workers. A great way to give back.

For the Beauty Mama

Mom’s deserve to be spoiled a little – especially these past few months when most of us have been giving overtime with very little me-time to balance it all out. One of my favourite things to receive is beauty products. As most of you well know, I am such a skincare junkie, so any opportunity to splurge a little… Here are my favourite skincare brands that I have personally tried and tested, and can say they show outstanding results.

Charlotte Tilbury

Charlotte Tilbury

I have a sweet spot for skincare and over the years I’ve had the opportunity to try out dozens of amazing products. Byredo has cornered the market when it comes to some of the most unique scents - I am obsessed with their Rose of No Man’s Land, but honestly, I’d take any perfume, cream or candle from them! I love Vivier’s dermatological product line, it’s my go-to when I want to feel pampered. Josie Maran is a new favourite and I have to say, the whole line has become essential to my beauty routine. Esthederm is perfect as we head into summer with their complete line of bronzing and self-tanner products. And then, of course, there’s the brand that took IG by storm: Charlotte Tilbury. The ultimate in all things contouring and lip volumizing, Charlotte Tilbury is perfect for the mama who loves her makeup.

For the Fashion Lover

Whether it’s clothes or a gift card from her favourite store, jewelry and accessories or a book about fashion, there’s always a way to slip in some style. Women have an undeniable love for all things fashion, so here are my fashion must-haves.

I have my favourite local stores that I always shop at - in any given week, I pop into TNT for a half day and try on new collections. But, now that we are all safe at home, I’ve moved over to online shopping more. When it comes to trendy new shoes, I always hit up my favourite Black Suede Studio. They have something for every look and even though we aren’t going anywhere just yet, the time will come and we will need to be prepared. That’s why I’m still upping my jewelry game: I love Suetables for their customizable collection and I also love Eye Accessorize - I have the evil eye hair clip and I always get compliments on it. I’m also super into the romper trend, and thanks to TNT I have the Velvet romper and the Stateside matching sweat set.

For the Self-Care Mama

Regardless of the holiday, giving your mama a little self-love is an essential in my books. You don’t necessarily need anything in order to start on your journey to self-care, however a little extra something never hurt anybody, especially since it’s Mother’s Day and we are all locked down in our homes. Here’s what’s in my favourite self-care kit:

Maison Tess

Maison Tess

Indulge in a little extra bed time with the coziest sheets of life! I love my Maison Tess sheets and whenever I get the chance to pop back into bed… I take it! I also quite enjoy resting and relaxing in my at-home spa with sumptuous body oils by dōTERRA and scrubs from Palo by Aimée&Mia. Another essential self-care tool is the jade roller, it may have seemed like a gimmick at first, but legit, it works. That along with some other dry scrubs and body brushes, and you can call it a day! lol!

Finally, for those who have been following my Instagram, you know that I have started a gratitude journal. I have so much to give thanks for and I use it as both a way to take time out for myself as well as a moment to stay present, check in with myself and show gratitude for all the love I have in my life.

There are so many ways to show your mother that you love her. I am so grateful to my mother for her hard work, tender love and tremendous show of support in anything that I do. I don’t let me kids surf the web, so they can’t read this, but what I want them to know that there is no greater gift than being their mother. I wake up grateful every morning that I have 3 of the greatest blessings I could’ve ever asked for. Simply being a mom is gift enough, maybe some extra hugs on our special day wouldn’t hurt though!
