Dior, Je T'adore

Everyone has their happy place. Mine is in my bathroom amidst my beauty supplies, music on, light beaming in from the window, unlimited time to play with colours and styles. I kid you not, I can try out different looks with all kinds of new and old products just to see what else my imagination can dream up.

These days I find myself more and more inspired to push out of my comfort zone and try out all kinds of different makeup tricks. Whether it’s a new liner path – cat eye, dramatic, or whatever else – a fun and bold eye shadow, or a lip colour I would otherwise have never tried, now is the time and I find myself going for it. I guess it’s a way to keep things new and fresh and also, and let’s get real for minute, it’s a way to have fun. I don’t take myself that seriously and there is nothing like going crazy all over my face and being pleasantly surprised that all my daring risks actually can and do pay off!

Sometimes I’ll do a look based off an idea, sometimes I challenge myself to a palette, and sometimes, like this time, I try to contain myself to one single beauty brand. That is how I came up with my Dior look and I am happy to say, holy crap, it was sensational. So much drama to be pulled out of their new collection and I just felt insanely editorial after an hour of brushing, sliding, gliding, and sweeping.

You know, there’s nothing like a stunning red to lift my spirits. The couture-inspired rouge entitled Rouge Dior New Look ’47 is a Limited Edition and boasts a gorgeous snowflake motif. It is lacy and sexy and I just felt my lips instantly go from ordinary to voluptuous. I went dark with my shadow with palettes to choose from. I tried to Golden Snow 5-colour couture before and loved it for a more day look, but for a more theatrical feel I pulled out the 5 colour couture Golden Nights Black Night – between the sparkle and the deep metallic sheen, you could practically call me your majesty… I seriously brought the drama. Slide on that perfect line, Dior Show 24H Stylo – Golden Nights and just drive that intensity home. Haha!

For now these looks are reserved for my photography and, well, me, but when these locked doors break open, watch my pounce for that nightlife – I’ll be the one showing off all my new looks. And if the full face weren’t enough, I also lacquered on the most stunning nail polish from the Diorific Vernis Golden Nights collection called Dark Nights. I mean, I think Dior is really trying to send a message that the night is about to fall and should get our dancing shoes ready.

There is always space for the Backstage Glow Face Palette which is basically a perfect combo of colours in one single palette. Whatever the look you’re after, these colours have you covered from contour and highlight to blush and shadow. I have the copper gold and rose gold featured here. These are great options if you are in the market. Like most, I have a few (dozen) palettes and I am glad I tried these – they are not only incredible colour combos, but also smooth and velvety and feels light on my skin.

Dior has been venturing out into new territory as they released their J’adore Eau de Parfum roller pearl. We all know the smell, it’s been around forever, but it’s probably one that I don’t ever tire of. I’ve been a long-time fan of Dior and this season’s collection went a cut above what I was expecting. So I’ll just keep playing away, perfecting my skills and emerge a whole new person in, dare I say, a couple months?? Here’s to wishing!
