bath rituals

This year, what we have always known has basically been taken from us. All our habits have changed – some for the better, some for the worse – but like it or hate it, this is our reality. I have a few things that I miss (mostly friends and family), but some stuff I’m grateful to have had more time to lean into.

When things make our lives easier, we call them habits. When they make our life more meaningful, we call them rituals. That’s what my bath is to me. A ritual. It has so many obvious benefits, and I will go on to explain them, but it’s the ritual of it all that I love most. Knowing that at the end of a long day, I will watch the water pour out, listen to it as it fills, scoop my salts and take in a big inhale as the scent fills the room. It’s a truly immersive experience. Everything from putting on my robe to the moment I climb in and rest my head, my bath time is a veritable ritual.

I have so many products I love to keep on a roster, but recently I love the Nanette de Gaspe Bain Noise Cannabis Sativa CBD Bath Soak Treatment. It promotes relaxation and de-stresses both your mind and body. Cold-pressed for maximum potency, the Cannabis Sativa is light and nourishing.

I also love bath scrubs and have tried a bunch of Nanor products – recently the Nanor x Rose Inc collab called Tuberrose Row Body Scrub. A little handful (I always use the wooden spoon, it adds to the ritual) and massage into your skin in a circular motion and feel the impact of the antioxidants and anti-inflammatory scrub.

Before the bath I will sometimes go one step further and massage the cellulite areas just to decrease to appearance of dimpling in my skin. The Glauscine Serum by Esthederm is so rich and instantly absorbs into the skin. It’s important to massage the gel into your skin before and then soak in the tub. Oh, and I recently spoke to a massage therapist who explained that a massage post-soak also helps eliminate and detoxify (especially if you soak in Epson salts).

If you don’t have time for a bath at least once a week, then try integrating it into your monthly routine. I try to align my bathing with the full moon – I learned so much about how the new moon is the perfect time to create new purpose and soaking in water acts as a way to clear and protect as well as create a space for a new mindset.

Make time for yourself. One huge thing we can take away fromt his year is that mental health and self-care are a priority – so take the time and take a soak. Set your mood, set your intention, grab your salts and essential oils and enjoy!
