HEALTHY CHOCOLATE ALMOND SHAKE

Calling all chocolate lovers! This shake is the perfect healthy fix when you're dreaming of chocolate. It's a better-for-you version of a chocolate milkshake for your kiddos, and it's ideal to squeeze in some protein to your day. You & your fam are gonna love this one.. if you love chocolate, that is!!

HEALTHY CHOCOLATE ALMOND SHAKE
INGREDIENTS
Serves 1
SHAKE
1 banana
1 scoop Chocolate Plant-based Protein*
1 cup almond milk, or any other plant-based milk of your liking
2 pitted very soft medjool dates
1 heaped tablespoon almond butter
1 tbsp chia seeds (optional)*
1 tsp cinnamon (optional)
¼ cup crushed ice (optional)
RIM
½ cup of chocolate chips of your liking
1-2 tablespoons melted virgin coconut oil
Toasted almonds and coconut flakes, finely ground
Small handful of chia seeds
Notes:
*I personally like the chocolate "Nourishing Protein" from Global Glow.
*Why chia-seeds?
They are an amazing source of fibre & protein, full of anti-oxidants & contain calcium and magnesium. They really pack a punch with what these little seeds can offer!
INSTRUCTIONS
Add your chocolate chips & coconut oil to a small bowl (a little bigger than the size of the glass rim) & microwave. Make sure it is to the consistency of melted chocolate. Not all oil may be required.
Dip the rim of the glass into the mixture, and then directly into a pile of the toasted and crushed almonds, coconut flakes & chia seeds.
Pop the glass into the freezer right side up until it hardens. This takes about ten minutes.
In a blender, combine all the ingredients for the smoothie except the ice and blend until creamy. Add the ice, and blend until chilled.
Pour into the chilled glass & enjoy!
