Top 5 Bath Soaps

Soap. We all use it. Seems so basic. But, we are all attracted to kinds of scents, textures, and consistencies. While soap might seem like an easy thing to shop for, I swear, cut to me at the store reaching for 5 different soaps to please all the members of my family! Ok, but if I’m being totally honest, sometimes it’s me that needs variety, lol!

There are different soaps for different moments. If I’m bathing with my daughter (yes, I bathe with my kids), then I’ll use a lighter scent but perhaps it’ll foam more. If I’m trying to take a spa-like bath, I’ll reach for a lavender smell that also moisturizes (since I’ll be hanging out until I turn into a raisin). Regardless of the type of bath/shower, the facts are indisputable: we all need soap and shouldn’t compromise on the products we use to nourish our skin. Here are the top 5 bath soaps that we use in my home:

Bioderma

Atoderm Cleansing Oil

We live in erratic weather and our skin feels the brunt of it. The Bioderma Atoderm Cleansing Oil acts as an ultra-nourishing shower oil that protects your skin against environmental conditions that will irritate and dry out your skin. Sometimes, when you use a soap that dries out your skin, you’ll feel super tight after a shower. But, with this cleansing oil, my skin feels calm and moisturized. Kind of my favourite for wintertime. Get this… it’s actually incredible for babies and adults – so it’s kind of a winner!

Bastide

Figure D’Ete Natural Body Wash

The Bastide Figue D’Ete Natural Body Wash is extra gentle and works perfectly with dry or sensitive skin. Make with Provence olive oil and coconut oil, this formula feels silky and indulgent. It cleanses your skin and I swear it smells like it cleanses the air – leaving the whole room fragrant rich. I am obsessed with Figue D’Ete, which smells like juicy summer fig mixed with crisp fall leaves. Also, it won the Byrdie Eco-Beauty Award for best body wash, so, yeah, there’s that.

Dr. Bronner’s

Pure-Castile Liquid Soap

So people always laugh when I say that I use my Dr. Bronner’s soap for everything from my face and body to my floors, but seriously, I do! The Pure-Castile Liquid Soap is versatile and biodegradble, and made to withstand the likes of humans and pets! Certified fair trade and organic, the Dr. Bronner’s brand has a whole bunch of yummy scents, but I opt for the unscented, because it’s best for my sensitive skin.

Dr. Hauschka

Rose Nurturing Body Wash

The Rose Nurturing body wash by Dr. Hauschka smells like a rose garden – for real. One of my favourite fragrances, I always feel so calm and soothed when I use the sumptuous creamy body wash. The formula is nourishing and is incredible for sensitive skin, but what I love most is that it’s organic and is synthetic- and dye-free. I love to use clean products as much as possible. First, because I like to take good care of myself, but also because I like to share my products with my children and I always want them to use the best and safest stuff.

Karine Joncas

Youth Essence Sea Bath

So when I use the Karine Joncas line, I legit feel like I am being transported to a spa. The Youth Essence Sea Bath is no exception – it is marketed as a rejuvenating balneotherapy and body wash for a reason: because once you’re done your bath, you’ll feel relaxed, detoxed, and regenerated. Infused with lavender essential oils, sea salt and oligoelements peptides, the Youth Essence Sea Bath helps eliminate toxins and promotes a youthful appearance of the skin.

It may seem simple… soap. Just run into any pharmacy and grab a bar. But, it really isn’t that simple anymore. When you become aware of some of the incredible and well thought out products that have been mindfully created to take care of your skin and take care of our planet, it’s hard to ever go back to just a regular bar of soap. Plus, in my busy life, bath time is my ten-minutes to disconnect and relax and so you better believe I’m going to light some candles, play some music, and use the best soaps ever.
