Café Livia

Locally renowned for their sensational Matcha lattes, Livia hit the Montreal map with a bang with their unique and inimitable blend of Matcha. I remember when they first opened a few years ago, I thought it was simply another coffee spot. But it isn’t! Yes, they have delicious, tummy-warming coffees, teas and of course, Matcha teas and lattes, but they also have an entire menu of healthy lunch items.

Whenever I stop by Livia, I always grab a ginger and turmeric shot. Tumeric is such an important natural healing spice, it’s great for anti-inflammatory purposes and I honestly just love the quick immune boost. Also doesn’t hurt that it’s delicious!

Like most healthy spots, Livia makes great vegan soups and unique bowl options – some vegan, others just simply straight-up healthy. I know it’s hard these days to come up with a new recipe for a healthy salad, but for me it’s all about the dressing.

The Livia salads are all really robust and nutritious, but what makes them so incredible is the dressings. They make a chili ginger, a lime sauce and an Asian flavor – all of which are my favourites!

I think our city is super well-endowed with great lunch spots – we have no shortage of cute restos and healthy salad bars. But, Livia has such a relaxed environment and the service is so amazing, I think that is what sets it apart from the rest. The décor is perfectly executed, the environment is cozy and they have two locations. When I’m downtown I go to the peel location, right next door to Ryú, which I’ve been meaning to try.

They also have a Livia Café inside of Ryu on Ste. Catherine corner Greene in Westmount. They serve all the yummy treats there and of course… Matcha tea!
