Top 5 Eyeshadow Palettes

I’m not a shy person when it comes to playing bold with colour. Fashion and makeup is my playground in that sense. I like to keep things fun and the best way is to just try things out – a little pink eyeliner here, some metallic green shadow there. I’ve been known to go sleek in an all-black cocktail dress and spice things up with smouldering electric blue makeup. What a look!

Most of the time, I’m a 10-minute makeup routine kind of girl, but regardless of how little I’m putting on, eye shadow is always part of the plan. After I prime my lid, I always want to add a little colour, build that natural look back up. I have so many favourite colours and finishes, it’s hard to narrow it down, but I have a top 5 eyeshadow palette here for you, and trust me, with any of these incredible palettes, you cannot go wrong!

Guerlain

Electric Look Palette

Sometimes you get a palette because it’s got your 4+ favourite colours, but then there are those palettes that have a few punchy colours you’d normally shy away from, but are just screaming your name. That’s what the Guerlain Limited Edition Electric Look Palette is to me. The perfect combo of my safe colours—metallic, nudes and all that—yet also that red and green to act as an accent. You could also use some of the colours as a cheek highlighter. Love how many looks can be created with a palette like this.

Marc Jacobs Beauty

Eye-Conic Multi-Finish Eyeshadow Palette

I love the rose gold accents and deeply saturated metallic. I use this palette a ton to create evening looks – there is that perfect velvety smouldering thing going on here, but also the right accent colours. Marc Jacobs Beauty design team got creative with this palette. The Eye-conic Multi-Finish Eyeshadow Palette – Coconut Fantasy Collection comes in a sleek compact case that was inspired by a rear-view mirror, because let’s face it, that’s where we create some of our best looks!

Lise Watier

Stardust 9-Colour Eyeshadow Palette

I feel like it’s a given that we all know how to apply eyeshadow, but the Stardust Eyeshadow Palette makes it super simple for those who don’t know. The lightest and brightest colour should hit the brow bone to help bring dimension. Then, you’ll apply a base colour all over the lid, and lightly smudge in a darker shade of that colour into your crease (you can go as far and deep as you like, depending the look and your eye shape). From there, I love to add a pop of colour. So let’s say I’m going neutral, I’ll add coral or right in the middle of the lid for a little extra fun. I’d say Lise Watier’s Stardust palette is the perfect starter kit.

Charlotte Tilbury

Luxury Palette

So Charlotte Tilbury create the paint-by-numbers, fail-proof palette with her Luxury Palette. I went for the Dolce Vita because nickel, gold, bronze, and all things neutral are perfect for my skin tone and hair colour. I build the look by layering the shadows. In Tilburian language, we prime, enhance, smoke and pop – and with these colours, you can do all of that super easily.

Becca

Ombre Rouge Eye Palette

What I love about the Becca Ombre Rouge Eye Palette is that there are no filler colours. I use every one of these shadows. I reach for the Ombre Rouge Eye Palette when I’m going dark and fancy – but be careful with these colours, they are deeply saturated. Better to go slow and light to build the look, because once you’ve applied the colour, there is no turning back. Drama!

If done properly, eyeshadow can do everything from change the shape of your eye to create a dramatic effect that transforms your face – think Twiggy or Marilyn, they have signature looks that have become makeup staples. I love to play around with colour and although I have my go-to daily colours, neutrals and bronzes mostly, I definitely do not shy away from colours and new ways to build a look.
