Poster Store

I’ve always had a creative side that I’ve expressed through my work. Even when I was at Au Pain Doré, a lot of my tasks revolved around aesthetic and branding. It’s probably the aspect I love most: creating something visually beautiful, something that captures and pleases the eye.

These last months have seen a lot of changes. One big change for me was that I rented out my work space and started working from my home office. Like most people who now work from home, I thought it very important to convert my space into an environment that inspires me and motivates my work.

I couldn’t just plop down at any old desk and start working. I mean, I’m sure I’m capable, but I didn’t want to. I wanted to decorate my office into a world of fashion, art and culture, because hey, it’s who I am!

I spent a couple hours browsing Poster Store and found gorgeous collections of art that I bought already framed. The Poster Store carries photography, culture, quotes of the day, art, fashion, landscapes, and so much more. They do custom prints and sizes as well as offer a wide range of framing options. It didn’t take long for me to fill up my walls with stunning prints that have transformed my space from office to gallery.

Once I had outfitted my walls, I started to think about how I could best decorate my kids’ walls. Lev was super easy, we do a lot of bedtime reading about animals and the forest so we opted for prints that captured the natural world.

Neva loves to surf so that was easy to search for and find. Then I thought about how certain quotes I heard when I was a kid resonated with me and I decided a quote would be a lovely addition to her wall. We’ve been focusing a lot lately on helping her tune into her feelings and understand them more so when I saw the quote “feelings are much like waves, we can’t stop them from coming, but we can choose which ones to surf,” I was immediately drawn to the message.

Lia has been dreaming of LA and the trip she’s been planning in her head – she has been begging to celebrate her sweet 16 there and so I thought it would be a great place to start when I hit the search bar. I typed in Los Angeles and so much came up. I used some of the prints to decorate their bathroom in a monochromatic black-and-white vibe and it looks both modern and cozy all at once.

It’s easier to keep the creative flow going when you’re surrounded by things that inspire you. Whether it’s the décor or my wearable art (yes, my wardrobe is a huge source of inspiration for me!), expressing myself creatively is super important. What most people don’t know about me is that I actually spend part of my work week curating mood boards and vision boards, putting together colour palettes and style guides for upcoming trends and vintage trends that continue to influence my own style. Maybe I’ll frame one of my boards and hang it next to one of Poster Store prints.
