Praise for the Winter

I have always been a runner, but once the winter hits, I take my work outs indoors. This winter, I’ve geared up with the proper training equipment so that winter weather won’t stop me from missing a run.

Technique is a big factor when it comes to outdoor running. Unlike indoor track, outdoor running is subject to the elements and there is so much more to think about and navigate. I love them both and snow be damned, nothing will stop me this year from taking to the streets.

Recently, I started taking jogging more seriously. I started to attend a class at 7 AM in WESTMOUNT with the well-known Dorys Langlois. When I was younger, I used to run short distances quite fast but it’s been a while and so I was slightly intimidated to run with our city’s best. Dorys needs no introduction, he trains the best, teaches everything from A-Z, and gives you a program so you can achieve your own gold standard. So many of his clients have run half or full marathons… so pressure’s on!

In order to be able to perform, I invested in my Praise gear. Complete with hat, neck warmer, merino wool Cardinal socks, and fleece-line Westward gloves, my body is warm and weather ready. The quality and comfort is next level impressive. It’s so important for your gear to be wind-proof and waterproof and all that, but most important is that it’s breathable.

Whether it’s running or cross country skiing (which I’m so excited for!), I’ll be in my Sycamore jacket—the perfect high-neck quick dry shell—and Salem pant. The pants are four-way stretch and moisture wicking (if you know, you know). Ok fine, I’ll explain, so here’s the deal: moisture wicking pulls the moisture away from the skin with these tiny, built-in capillaries. Drawn to the outside of the fabric, moisture stays out and evaporates, which means, if you sweat, you won’t feel wet!

Quick dry, these technical leggings are perfect for that outdoor run and work perfectly with the Rook jacket, which basically has the same technology. Praise has me covered on the coldest days with the River jacket and layering vest like the Crikey.

The Gabali hat is also moisture wicking, which means less sweat that gets trapped. Like I said, covered hat to socks in Praise and you’ve set yourself up for the winter perfect run! You have to touch it to believe it, I promise, Praise is all about the fabric – otherwise terms like moisture wicking make no sense.

I have to say, I’m really enjoying running outdoors in the cold. What I love the most is that I get to work out and watch the sun rise. it’s magical and fills me up with a ton of energy. Another thing that fills me with energy: promo codes! Here’s a sitewide promotion just for you! Key in JULES10 at checkout. Happy running!
