Lacroix Cider

Some places just give you life.

I recently visited Lacroix Cider, a seemingly typical orchard. But the vast green space offered more than meets the eye. Of course I walked through rows and rows of absolutely stunning flowers in mid-bloom. Of course, I caught a glimpse of the apple trees fully bare, pre-apple season. But it was so much more than all that.

Being a city girl, I spend my days trotting along our concrete jungle. Although we are so lucky that Montreal is a small city surrounded by water and filled with parks as far as the eye can see, it still is urban living after all. I happen to be a lucky country bumpkin who spends most weekends rushing to my quiet home on the lake. 5 days out of 7, I’m surrounded by concrete. Lol.

So when we took a moment to visit Lacroix Cider, the effects on my soul were immense. I legit took the longest pause to stop, stare and breathe. An absolutely stunning, beyond dreamy open space to just walk and be bewildered by nature.

Luckily, we got there early enough to capture the sun rising. I think I sometimes forget how much I need to stay connected to the most elemental things in life. In this case, simple was an magically Zen, refreshingly simple morning dew amidst the flowers.

The pleasure was twofold. As a content creator, it’s a full-time job researching our city and sussing out the perfect backdrops. I threw on my Iro blouse and Golden Goose shoes, both from TNT, along with necklaces from my very own Summer Memories x Mlle Jules collaboration, and frolicked through the orchard to my heart’s content.

I learned a ton about Lacroix Cider while I was there: cider-tasting, a store to purchase local foods, farm-to-table restaurant available year-round, guided tours and special events. They hand-plant apples to create their home-made cider, which they produce in sparkling, ice and fire (I feel like an expert listing off the types, but honestly, not quite sure what fire cider is! Lol).

The cider house has been around since 2004, and with picking season just a couple months away, the orchard is in full action. In the village of St Joseph du Lac, the Lacroix Cider Factory makes products distributed all over Quebec and they are the leader in the Quebec cider industry, not bad…

An ode to discovering our local treasures, this past year has surfaced so many wonders and Cider Lacroix is ranking in pretty high. An absolutely serene way to spend the day – can’t wait for apple picking season to begin!
