Twins for a Day

There are those times that I look back on my childhood and remember going to work with my parents in the bakery. Playing chef as a kid and then legit helping run the business as I got older, going to work with my parents wasn’t just a one-time thing, it was a lifestyle

Every day, as I plan my work – everything from outfits and blogs to trips and collabs – I count my lucky stars that I get to do what I love. Although I am surrounded by people (or was before covid), my job is actually more or less a one-person gig most of the time. There are those times where I shoot with friends or on location and it makes everything feel more alive. But then there are those times when I get to snap photos with my family, and wow, it just feels like magic.

I am so super grateful for my loving and supportive family. Every once in a while we shoot a birthday or fashion look together, but Neva, my middle child, almost never wants to be a part of it. Until this one day, when she woke up in who knows what kind of mood, and said, hey mom! Let’s shoot a look together. And then, she put the cherry on top: let’s be twins! she said.

Ok, so I don’t know about you, but that was basically music to my ears. It might seem like no big deal, but to me, it was the whole darn world. Extra time with my kid, capturing memories together, laughing and having fun, and little does she realize, but this is my version of bringing my kid to work! I was absolutely beaming with pride all day long (for days actually, the feeling just kept me high!).

We pulled a leather on denim look and just hung out. Casual and real, mom and daughters. Nothing to it. And still to this day, I look at these pics and I remember how special it was that Neva wanted to hang out, Neva wanted to dress alike, and Neva wanted to be part of my work life. Do you ever bring your kids to work?
