How To: Style a Blazer

There are so many ways to pull a casual chic, work-from-home, heading out on errands, kind of blazer look. Whether it’s with joggers, denim, heels, or leather, blazers are the perfect wear-with-all to dress up (or down) your look.

I am all for leopard both as an overcoat layer or as a pattern that weaves a look together. I especially love the classic leopard print (and colours) to bring out that playful side of a pretty sexy look. I paired the Visko Jac Leo Blazer from Zadig & Voltaire with a slit leather pant and heels for a dressed up blazer look.

It wasn’t long ago when the snow hadn’t yet hit the ground when I was traipsing about the Atwater market in a prim and proper blazer and jean look. I layered the Beige & Yellow Uniqlo x Ines de la Fressange Collab (similar linked here) with white denim and the cutest neck-kerchief.

Even though we are well into winter, layering a blazer under your jacket for a pulled together, full look underneath is outfit perfection. Make room in your closet, because when you buy one, you’ll realize how versatile a blazer really is and all of a sudden, you’ll have a blazer section in your closet!

It’ll transform your look. Trust me. If it’s bold prints, classic houndstooth, or a textured knit like the stunning white Iro Paris Knit-like Blazer I nabbed a few months back, there’s a blazer for every look. I especially love the Chanel appeal of this weave with the tiniest speck of silver woven through. It’s all in the details!

My vibe these days is the Ba&sh Blazer (from Holt Renfrew Ogilvy) (similar linked here). Not necessarily because it’s my favourite blazer (although it’s definitely up there!), but mostly because I threw it on over sweats and sneaks and all of a sudden I look like I’m in a styled #ootd.

Another blazer I recently fell in love with? The Eletta blazer from La Marque- this colour was an exclusive, but there’s soooo many to chose from on their site, so don’t you worry! The style isn’t yet available- but it’s coming soon! Another one of my go-to blazer styles from La Marque is the Felina, which you can shop right now, right here.

I am obsessed with the oversized fit of both styles, you can rock it as an actual blazer or even as a blazer dress. I love! You can shop the selection of La Marque blazers here, and my code JULES15 applies site wide over there, too!

The key when you’re buying (and styling) your blazer is not to overwhelm the outfit. It’s about cut, fit, and length and then it’s also about mixing and matching so the layered look comes through. If you like a more relaxed fit, that works well with heels, and if you are more into a fitted blazer, then try a graphic tee or accessories. Don’t be afraid to think outside the box and get playful!
