Outdoor Living

Nothing beats a hot summer day spent outdoors by the lake listening to music, relaxing with friends and family breathing in crisp country air. Call me spoiled, but this summer has been all about that much needed rest and relaxation. There are absolutely no drawbacks to outdoor living, however, spending a full day outside can get slightly dirty, especially with 3 kids running around in the sand and water. Cue outdoor shower.

So here’s the thing about the outdoor shower that you would never have guessed: my husband built it himself! I kid you not, there’s nothing like thinking you know someone for a few decades, only to find out that he has this hidden talent! I don’t think I’ve ever seen him install even a shelf let alone design and build an entire structure, plumbing and all. Just a little side note: it’s incredible that after all these years, we can still keep learning new things about each other. Love that.

Back to the shower – it has made our lives so seamless to be able to fully immerse ourselves in outdoor living without bringing in the mess to our home. But, an outdoor shower is way more than just convenience. The wooden cabana is a haven of relaxation and mediation. I make a point to use it as more than just a functional space; to me, it’s that symbolic cleanse. Let me explain.

I have these incredible PALO products by Aimée & Mia. They are all about clearing energy and calling upon your resilience to draw on your own inner strength. Eliminating toxins and uplifting the spirit, the PALO sticks, bath beads and soaps have become an integral part of my cleansing ritual. I find peace and calm from the routine of simply walking up to the shower, knowing that I will spend at least 10 minutes basking in the aromas that release any tension I may have been holding onto.

I am absolutely in love with what we have done with our country home. We have fused all the elements we love that allow us to live our best life. I am so grateful that I have this unique space that my family created together. There’s nothing like truly feeling at home when you are at home. You know what I mean?
