PIZZA 900 @ HOME

Every day, three times a day, we stand in our kitchens and plan, prep, and cook our meals. Whether it’s a simple egg breakfast, a grab-and-go lunch or a full on 3-course course family dinner, I can honestly not remember a single day when I didn’t spend at least a couple hours in the kitchen. I know I’m not the only one, am I right?

As my kids grow older, I am truly trying to teach them the importance of being able to take care of themselves, and that includes learning how to cook. My older ones can already do a whole bunch of stuff in the kitchen and love to help me especially when I’m baking. I love spending time with them in the kitchen, aside from the fact that it reminds me of my some of my own favourite childhood memories, it’s a way of doing an activity together that actually fulfills an important function – lol!

In my home, we do pizza night a couple of times a month. We love to order in and have a super simple, laid back evening complete with a slice of pizza and an easy side salad, because obviously I always try to add something healthy to every meal.

I loved the Pizza 900 Home Pizza Kit – it comes complete with four pizza doughs, their house tomato sauce, fior di latte, and basil. I opted for a few extra yummy Italian trimmings, like oils, oregano, and hazelnut spread for dessert. I dressed my pizza with cherry tomato confit, olive oil, arugula and parmasean cheese – I love a delicious white pizza – I can’t help it!

So, I got my kids together and we got going on kneading our dough, tossing and dressing, and baking off our personal pizzas. I’ve learned that my kids are more inclined to try new things and eat their whole meal if they are the ones who put in the time and cooked it themselves. Lia spent a little extra time watching the Pizza 900 instructional videos on their Instagram page so she could perfect her technique. I swear my dad would’ve been so proud to see his little bakers killing it in the kitchen.

Cooking together as a family is always a fun idea. It might be a little before my family of 5 hits the town to sit at a restaurant, but I love that we can bring the restaurant to us. Although take out or pizza cooking home kits don’t quite match the wood-burning ovens of our beloved Pizza 900, this was the next best thing. Biting into a hot pizza straight out of the oven was like a small taste of heaven in my mouth! What’s your favourite meal to cook as a family?
