Lia's 10th BDAY

Every birthday gives us reason to celebrate, but there is something about those round numbers that get us particularly excited! Maybe it’s because my little Lia went from kid to double-digit pre-teen, but something about turning 10 made us want to go all out. So all out we went!

Obviously this year, birthday celebrations require us to think slightly out of the box. And by out of the box, I mean, out of the house, lol! It didn’t take too much brainstorming for us to come up with the perfect plan. Throughout the last few months, our family has founded a new Saturday night tradition filled with movies, snacks and lots of family time. So it was the perfect plan for Lia’s 10th bday – movie under the stars in our very own backyard boho camp.

Pulling together the most stunning décor to create the picture-perfect event is not the simplest task, so I called for reinforcement. KADO is legit, you guys. If you’ve ever attended any of my kids bdays, you know I love a good photo op, and KADO delivered on that Pinterest-worthy celebration. Curating vendors from all over Montreal, they turned a movie night into pandemic-friendly Coachella… I kid you not! Launching in Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver very soon, if you ever need a hand with planning any celebration, KADO (@trykado) is your one-stop shop to the perfectly planned (and executed) party.

The boho theme was on point. The Boho Lab delivered on décor. Each little set-up was so cozy and inviting. Along with the poufs and side table from @theboholab – we also had cushions and a luxurious beige carpet from @piknik_lux and of course, those stunning neutral and pink pampas grass arrangements by @dbarrangements . If that isn’t enough, the personalized blankets by @ccreations_mtl were so super cute for the evening, and we are so lucky to be able to keep them forever as a souvenir.

The movie screen balloons by @balloom.ca were stunning and then we also added the Lia letter balloons, which are always fun by @loveyoumore_balloons . The outdoor movie screen set up by partymtl.com was the focal point of the evening. I love how all of these vendors are so prepared to set up no matter what the venue is – they figure it all out for! Stress-free and super enjoyable.

The food was the perfect combo of pizza, from Il Focolaio, mocktails by @mtl_craftcocktails (and they came in the cutest little mason jars with pretty little straws, I mean the creativity of these people is beyond!), and individually wrapped popcorn with customized “Lia’s Movie Night” labels by @blksheepprints . We had beautiful resin jewelry by @resinbychristina and also a @littleleahskitchen (also @llkkids) delivered on the cupcake boxes, tie-dye cookies and cake pops, and the cake – all of which were so unbelievably delicious!

Then there were the most delectable cakesicles ever… by none other than Canada’s original creator of the cakesicle: YUM Creations (@yumcreations). The YUMcakies were not only so super yummy, they were also so freakin cute! It’s so hard in our time to come up with something completely new, so a special shoutout to YUM creations for creating such a charming, mouthwatering treat!

The most important part of the night was laying together, as a family, under the stars and taking in the most unique experience. You know, we can’t always control what happens, but we can choose how we want to feel about it. This pandemic is handing us a whole bunch of lemons, but I say, let’s make us some pink lemonade! Thank you KADO for helping us make our baby girl feel special and giving us a memory we will cherish forever!
