When Chic Meets Très Chic

It is known that Montreal is one of Canada’s fashion hubs – we have a ton of local talent and the creative energy is beaming from our one-of-a-kind boutique shops to our unique pop ups, styling events, and designer collaborations. I thrive off the artistry and really feel most inspired when I’m creating – whether it’s the photo shoot or the digital layout, being part of the process and developing a look really gets me going.

That’s what got me to walk in to Très Chic Styling, a local fashion retailer on Laurier avenue in Montreal. Fashion retailers around the world boast about their perfectly curated collections, but very few truly have the goods to back it up their claim. Très Chic Styling is one of the few. Their collection is an assembly of ready-to-wear designer dresses and other fashion-forward pieces that are versatile and timeless. Angelica, the founder, travels worldwide to handpick all of the items sold in her store, and rest assured that when people travel to Montreal to shop Très Chic Styling (and they do, people come from all over to browse the collection), they’ll find architectural cuts, statement colours, and other distinctive twists on classic fabrics and cuts.

I had an event I needed a dress for so I walked in to Très Chic Styling and was ready to start perusing. They have in-house stylists who work to find the perfect dress that will fit you just right, and let me tell you, it took them two minutes to size me up (to the inch!) and pull the most fabulous dresses. They have everything from cocktail and evening attire to wedding and gala gowns. Everything they have feels glamorous and has serious red carpet appeal. I tried on the first dress they pulled and I instantly fell in love. The prêt-à-porter Greta Constantine dress in a rich, deep blue really works with my colouring. The Esperanza sleeveless dress fits like it was made for me: a plunging v-neck with tutu-tiered layers plays up my assets and lengthens my body (always an added plus for us petite women!).

I’m a huge advocate for local retailers, and the only conviction that holds equal is my love and support for local designers. Très Chic Styling pulls from all over the world, but they always have up-and-coming Canadian designers as well. Très Chic Styling has names like Frascara designed and made in Canada, Likely and Milly from NYC, Ministry of Style from Australia, Hotel Particulier from France, and Seventy from Italy. They also have jewelry by Boe from NYC and Lucas Jack from the UK.

You can book a private appointment or just walk in, you’ll always be treated to a stylist’s assistance and you’ll never walk out empty-handed. Treat yourself to a dress… your wardrobe will thank you.
