The House of Givenchy

The house of Givenchy is atop the international couture industry. Spanning an audience of sports’ legends, hip hop stars and princesses (yes, Meghan Markle donned a ravishing custom Givenchy gown at her wedding), the French luxury brand has been setting high-fashion standards since 1952.

Under the house of Givenchy comes a whole host of products like clothing, accessories, perfumes and cosmetics. Imagined by Nicolas Degennes, the makeup artistic director at Givenchy, Disturbia was recently launched and has striking new lines and volume when it comes to eyeliners and mascaras. The lipstick and eyeshadow colours are absolutely haute couture and are the perfect shades to create glamorous looks for any occasion. Here is what I am currently obsessed with:

Volume Disturbia

Volume & Curve Mascara 24 Hours Wear

#MadeToDisturb mascara has that intensely black pigment that makes your eye pop and prrr. There’s the obvious volume and curve effect that most mascaras give nowadays, but what makes Volume Disturbia stand our is that it is a buildable formula: apple one layer and you’ll have an instant curve effect, but add on another layer, and watch as your eyelashes lift off! No joke! It’s intense. It’s got a silicone brush, which I love, and micro-bristles, which is also super easy for that glide-on application. Another thing I love is that it’s infused with Vitamin E to protect your lashes – so when you wear makeup all day, you’re also nourishing your lashes.

Prisme Libre

Mat-Finish & Enhanced Radiance Loose Powder, 4-in1 Harmony

A loose powder with the perfect harmony of 4 complementary shades – velvety and radiant to create a weightless feel that lasts all day. One layer of Prisme Libre and you’ve got the sheer coverage you need that’s matte and luminescent. It’s been around since 2006 and is known in the industry as a cult super-powder – probably because it diminishes imperfections and keeps you looking fresh and radiant all daylong.

Liner Disturbia

Precision Felt-tip Eyeliner 24 Hours Wear

I find that eyeliner can sometimes be hard to apply and that’s not because I have one eye closed and am holding a dagger to my lid (lol), but rather because some liners are not made with the smooth technology needed to glide on easily. Well, the Liner Disturbia is a new generation in eyeliner, because it’s easy to apply, it’s 24-hour wear, and it is precise and waterproof. As Degennes intended, this eyeliner is almost disturbing! What makes this liner stand out from the rest is that it is transferproof – so you know when you apply liner and then open your eye and all of a sudden you have a black streak on your upper lid, yeah well, not with this liner!

Le Prismissime

9 Colors Eye Palette - Multi-Finish Eyeshadows

Some palettes create pretty straightforward looks, and then there are those palettes that create cult looks. Well, Le Prismissime is a cult classic and with good reason – the 9 colours create that perfect harmony when blending the shade-to-highlighter lid. It’s smooth and has matte, satin and metallic finish options, and my favourite thing about eyeshadow is when it feels like velvet as it glides on – this honestly feels like I’m moisturizing my eyelids! No joke.

Teinte Couture Shimmer Powder

Face Highlighter

Some people skip this step, but I always finish my look with an illuminating face powder. It leaves the perfect ultra-fine mother-of-pearl transparent glow. Soft and silky, the Teinte Couture Shimmer Powder is the most luminescent face highlighter I’ve come across in a while. It sculpts and allows light to hit the face in the perfect points, if properly applied of course.

Le Rouge Deep Velvet

Beige Nu

A highly pigmented, powdery matte couture lipstick, the Rouge Deep Velvet is simply stunning. It comes in 6 shades, I have the Beige Nu which is still super trendy and just doll-like. So natural and, yet sumptuous, this red velvet case just gives it that extra chic power. Oh, and it’s infused with mango butter to add that extra level of comfort.

Rouge Interdit

Satin Lipstick Comfort & Hold - Illicit Color

I’m a huge fan of making a bold statement when it comes to fashion, and one surefire way to make a splash is with red lipstick. Whether it’s jeans and a t-shirt or a black cocktail dress, all you need is the perfect red lip and the look is complete! The Rouge Interdit Satin Lipstick comes in 24 shades and glides on like a second skin. It adds dimension and with the reflective micro-crystals it accentuates and illuminates your face instantly.  Oh, and it comes in a Couture signature ribboned case.

There are a ton of makeup brands out there and sometimes it’s hard to sift through what’s good and what fits well for you and your skin type. Then there are those brands that are trusted and true – you know that no matter what they create, it’s going to establish the new industry standard – and that is what Givenchy does… time and time again.
