Mackage Jackets

Growing up, I remember it was virtually impossible to find that warm, functional jacket that was also super trendy and cool looking. Our options were slightly more limited than they are today. Now, we have so many great brands that are putting forth incredibly fashionable jackets that are also uber weather-proof.

Mackage is probably one of the first Canadian brands that found that balance between function and fashion. Founded by Eran Elfassy and Elisa Dahan, the Montreal-based brand has taken the cold chill out of winter with a flair for sexy, sleek and fashion-forward jackets. It started in 1999 and has been killing the scene ever since.

Making a puffy coat sexy is a challenge. Usually we wear our coats and cover up our sexy outfits underneath, but let’s talk about this puffy coat for a quick second. The length, the hood, the high neckline – I mean it was built for stormy weather and it delivers on its promise. My puffy jacket has the added element of having been personalized, which I love and think is the perfect touch – lucky me!

I’m a fan of floor-length and mid-length jackets for our cold city weather and I’ll always wear the warmest of my selection when I’m up in the country. Don’t get me wrong – I have a wide variety of wool, faux fur, puffy, bombers… you name it, and I got it. Like most of us, we need variety – something to match each occasion.

When I was in New York City for the Weather Station launch, I wore the perfect puffy jacket to endure legit the most freezing of elements. Mackage had built a weather station that simulated freezing cold weather – wind included – to show just how durable and functional their jackets are. Well, the jacket was in fact durable and no weather station was needed… it was freezing that day in New York and if I remember correctly, it was also raining!

I had worn the lightweight Emerie coat complete with high-performance materials and technical features. Insulated, nano down and machine washable! I mean, they thought of everything.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: us Canadians know how sad it can be to spend a few hours putting together the perfect outfit only to cover it up with a clunky jacket. Nope. Not anymore. With the wide array of styles and silhouettes Mackage has, your last layer is an outfit in itself. Thank you Mackage!
