New Year New Vision

This year is all about letting go of the past. I want to put 2020 behind me and move into 2021 with new energy and new vision. I feel replenished and filled with hope and gratitude and that is the exact attitude I want to bring with me into this new start.

There is so much going on in the world – a veritable biological war is happening out there and we’ve all had our fair share of anxiety, mental exhaustion, burnout and all the other fun stuff that 2020 brought with it. But it’s time to put it all behind us. A new year is here and with that comes the possibility of beautiful things.

I have a few ideas of how I’d like this year to go. I am not about to compile a wish list of Fashion Week dreams, instead I am focusing on myself and what I can do to ground my mind and keep myself healthy.

This year is all about self-care. I am taking a vow that positivity will reign – I want to feel free in my thoughts and open to anything that comes up that we may have to face. I want to show my children that a strong mind is your biggest muscle and that resilience is a powerful skill that can be strengthened over time.

I’ve always been into journaling, meditation and yoga, but this year I want to ramp up the volume and ensure that I incorporate the teachings of my meditative practices into my everyday life. I get nervous energy for many different reasons throughout the day and I can’t always control it. It would be a welcome change if I could integrate my calming rituals in such a way that my body would reap the benefits in moments of anxiety.

I want to spend more time focusing on my bigger purpose. Maybe it’s a mom thing, maybe it’s an age thing, or maybe I just feel we all need something bigger and more meaningful to hold onto these days, but I want to dive deep and figure out what it is that will make me feel grounded and connected. Perhaps it’s the lack of family and friends gathering all the time that has made me feel less connected lately (actually, not maybe, it’s for sure that), and so I hope that 2021 will bring some much needed socializing back into all of our lives.

On a professional note, I am so grateful that I get to do what I love. I feel blessed that I get to use my platform to share all of my favourite things from fashion and food to shopping local and the fine beauty of our city of Montreal. If I could put one thing out there for 2021 it would be to have the opportunity to continue to work with such incredible brands and boutiques so that I can continue to build my own personal brand.

Lastly, love. I hope the people in my life know how much I love them; how much richer my life is because of them. But if I can do one thing right this year, it’s to extend that love even further and even deeper. There’s nothing I love more than love – I am so grateful that I have so many incredible people in my life whom I love wholeheartedly. So, if I don’t show it enough, then get ready for some smothering, because this year, I will love even harder.
