Set the Mood
As someone who takes hosting very seriously, I’m all about setting the mood. I take great care to develop a menu that will make my guests happy, I prepare the table and environment in a way that invites socializing in an intentional way, and I always want to bring the element of feeling welcome –with everything from lighting and music to smiles and a relaxed vibe.
Whether it’s a formal holiday party or casual lakeside BBQ, I truly do try to consider all aspects. Aside from the food and guest list, I’d say one of the major elements that can make or break a gathering, is the music. I am ALL ABOUT THE MUSIC.
In my city house, we are fully stacked with the right sound and equipment needed to get the dance floor going. But that same energy was missing up north at our country place, and so we obviously went on a serious hunt. It didn’t take long to find the perfect speaker, also known as the sound lantern.
The Uma Sound Lantern is a portable speaker designed and developed by Pablo Designs. From a purely aesthetic point of view, this speaker/light is state-of-the-art stunning. I mean, it’s won awards for its uniqueness and all around intelligent design. It’s sleek and elegant and emits a beautiful light that simulates a warm LED akin to a natural sunset.
From a technological perspective, the high-quality surround sound is produces that perfect intimate moment. With its omnidirectional woofer, the sound is authentic and super powered. I love to bring it down to the dock with me in the early mornings to create a sound bath experience, as I bask in the waking sun, listening to the water rhythmically waving to light music. It’s the perfect travel size to bring with you anywhere you want to go: campfire, beach, boat, park or wherever else!
The fact that the Uma Sound Lantern is legit stunning really helps, because you can plop it down anywhere and it acts as a visually pleasing centrepiece. It was designed to evoke that camping lantern that we can all visualize being toted around, but made in a way that is so elegant. I grabbed mine at Union Luminaire, they have both colour options – silver/white or pure white.
I am a serious music lover, so a Bluetooth portable music player/light was a no brainer for me to invest in. As I lay on my dock, meditating and relaxing, I listen to compilations of all of my favourites music. Some classics mixed in with some of my hubby’s originals.
