Messika by Kate Moss Fashion Show

When Paris turns it up, it goes all the way up. I have to say, there was so much buzz about this collaboration that my body was itching to finally get a sneak peek at what was created and let me tell you, Valérie Messika and Kate Moss elevated fashion and jewelry in their iconic and avant-garde High Jewelry fashion collection.

Messika by Kate Moss Fashion Show was hosted at the Ritz Paris, the perfect setting for the extravagant show. A historic venue for a modern show created a playful juxtaposition that we would see traipse the red carpet and runway throughout the evening. The glitz and glam started with the who’s who that was invited: from Cardi B, Christian Louboutin, Anna Wintour, and Sophie Banford to Toni Garn, Zoia Mossour, and Camila Coelho. A veritable mix and match of musical icons, fashion celebrities, and A-listers.

I was so honoured to attend and get a chance to check out the Haute Couture jewelry first hand. Messika was founded in Paris in 2005 by Valérie Messika. Her pieces have been worn on many a red carpet and have been adorned by the likes of Gigi Hadid amongst others. Audacious and innovative, her contemporary jewelry tells a story of modern feminism. She’s been disrupting the diamond world for almost two decades now and this year, she collaborated with the one and only Kate Moss to bring us a collection that is legit out of this world.

A High Jewelry fashion show. Does that say everything I need it to say? High Jewelry takes diamonds to another level. Think dark and sultry runway lit up perfectly so that the jewels glisten in the night. Sparkling all over, you could see the jewelry with swift movement and dynamism suspended, floating, dripping in the most spectacular ways.

They kept the pairings simple for the runway in terms of outfits in order to let the jewelry take centre stage, but the jewelry would’ve stolen the show either way. Empowering and unexpected, yet timeless and classic, the pieces were all so transportive. I could picture myself layering some diamonds and colourful Malachite or mother-of-pearl pieces with a graphic tee or the geometric turquoise pieces with a little black dress. So many inspirational ideas came flooding through with the flamboyance of the collection.

Bold and feminine. Two words I live by. I truly felt my energy rushing watching the women stomp the runway. Kate Moss has forever been a style icon for me and watching her vision come to life was a dream. Messika and Kate Moss pulled together two worlds and created what they call High Joaillerie – I believe I read somewhere “diamonds are transformed into treasured tattoos.” I mean how edgy is that? Brilliant.

Each piece more playful than the next, the Messika by Kate Moss collection was a show stopper. An incredible way to close my Paris Fashion Week experience, I got more than I bargained for: the Ritz Paris, a runway filled with magnificent models (think Taylor Hill, Cindy Bruna, Isabeli Fontana, Constance Jablonski and Edita Vilkevičiūtė), a who’s who first row, and of course, a killer show.
