My Birthday Blog

Every day is a day to celebrate – I have everything in the world to be thankful for: I’m healthy, I have a beautiful family, great friends and I count myself lucky that I truly love what I do. But today is an extra special celebration… it’s my birthday! And I can’t wait to enjoy a full 48 hours one-one-one time with my hubby, a couple close friends and maybe eve, dare I say… some alone time!

For my 44th birthday, my mother asked me what the one gift is that I would want most in the world, and after a long year and a half of pandemic marathon, my quickest and most honest answer was 48 hours of me time! She obliged and off my 3 kids went for a much anticipated weekend sleepover. Spare the judgment, I love my children and put them first ALL. THE. TIME. And part of putting them first means some meaningful time with their dad and maybe even some friends. And that’s a fact.

Today isn’t a day for retrospectives. No future visions, no lessons learned. Just me in the present as I am. It’s exactly what I need to do to root myself in the moment and give gratitude to today.

Perhaps the choices in my life may have seemed confident to the outside world, but I was Julie doing Julie and while yes, I was following my heart, I was also not always in the driver’s seat. But today, this Julie is resilient and strong and she is all real. I take risks and I say yes; yes to adventure, yes to the possibilities of the unknown, yes to exploring the world and yes to getting to know myself on a deeper level.

Thank you heart for always remaining open. Open to love, open to happiness, open to positivity. Open despite some pain, open despite the challenges. Open because every day is a new day. Open because I am a role model for my children and if I do my job right, they too will keep their hearts open. My joie de vivre is genetic (or I’d like to think so, thank you daddy), and it comes from a space of never closing myself off to anything, especially not the moment. And, well, every minute is a moment, so here I am… always open.

Thank you, music! For always being an outlet for me to let go, to keep me sane and to lift my spirits! I think we can all attest to the fact that the past year hasn’t been the easiest, so any small way to brighten our days was needed.. and for me, that always included music. It’s no wonder my birthday was all about enjoying good music with the company of my family (who by the way, are DJ’s themselves!)

What a blessing it is to be a music lover myself, but to have those around me deeply connect to music as well. It’s been my therapy for years, I am grateful for the power of music!

Thank you to all of you for giving me the space to explore myself, do what I love and share it with the world. Montreal is my canvas and together, I’m excited to put the past behind us and go out to paint the town. But for today, I will celebrate the now and call in health, happiness and love for all of you. xoxo

Happy birthday to me!

Like I said, we are music lovers in my family and we love to dance it out, I believe music can change your mood and lift up your spirit. This is my gift to you, my brother’s latest playlist @dj.ce.official

Enjoy!

Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and life to everything.
