The Bazart Experience

Want to talk about innovation in the culinary industry? Most would assume we’d venture down the road of gastronomical creations, but the future of the industry isn’t just about the food… it’s about the entire experience.

Last night, on the historic site (yup, I said historic, and for those of you who know, you’ll agree) of New City Gas in Griffintown, Bazart had its official launch. Now, open to the public, the Bazart experience is filled with everything from Mediterranean-inspired cuisine, an open-air gallery, a hosting space for local artisans, and, wait for it, our country’s first NFT gallery (if you don’t know what that means, sit tight). Also did a little shopping in their store, I snagged a gorgeous ring, sandals and a bag! The store is just so serene, I highly recommend.

A collaboration between two Quebec Food-based companies, Produkt (by Alex K, also the owner of New City Gas) and Spkeasy, Bazart was conceptualized as a way to showcase and share Montreal’s many talents, both in the culinary and artistic scene.

Montreal’s night life and culture scene in general are pretty much at the tippy top of Canada’s hot list. But as we all know, the pandemic put a big dent in the way we socialize, which made it a perfect opportunity for Alex K and company to sit down and rethink the future of the industry. Just when you think you now where things are going, wow, was I so pleasantly surprised to see the thoughtful design, innovative technology, and of course, the incredible food Bazart offers.

A space for locals and tourists alike, Bazart will host concerts, shows, events and fundraisers. The beach-inspired restaurant takes you back to Ibiza, Tulum (yes, please!), and Mykonos all rolled into one. From menu to design, the space really comes alive. Chef Massio Piedimonte created a stellar menu (in collab with some of the world’s finest – like Maxime Liberté, the sommelier from Maison Boulud, and Athiraj Pharsavath, chef from Mercuri, and so many others).

An urban oasis right in the heart of Griffintown, Bazart is exactly what the doctor ordered. When you enter the space, you feel yourself drift into a space reminiscent of your next best vacation with a combo of lush greens set against nature’s sandy beige palette. Calming and meditative, Bazart feels fresh and transformative.

Oh, and now I’ll do good on my promise to fill you in on what NFTs are, lol! 0x Society, a non-profit organization founded by Yannick Folla and Bianca Lessard, have put together a gallery from 12 of the industry’s most influential artists to interpret the summer solstice. Both virtual and in-person, the exhibit is free to experience. Filled with NFTs, crypto art available in the metaverse, you can check out the open-air gallery all summer long. Throughout the year, the gallery will change, but will always celebrate the vibrant energy of the Montreal art scene.

I told you Bazart was an experience! Check it out for yourself and enjoy!! I Loved it so much that I’m going back this week for a girls night out :-)
