Michael Kors Fashion Week

What’s it like to attend a Michael Kors Fashion Show for New York Fashion Week? It’s nothing short of a dream. Even this year, for the Summer/Spring 2022 collection, watching from the comfort of my Montreal home, it was still transportive.

The show was a knockout – every look was cut to perfection. The silhouettes, the cropped bustiers, the leather, the fabrics… I have to say, I got a taste of what’s coming in the fashion world and it is absolute perfection. Some years I look and love but ultimately know it’s not wearable for my style or body type, but this year’s runway got me giddy – one look after the other went straight onto my must-have list!

Watching some of the greats stomp the runway was amazing. Although, it was sad for me to not physically attend and get to walk the red carpet, snap pics, take my seat, people watch, and just go through the rituals of it all – I still have to say that I felt fully immersed attending virtually. I was sent champagne and brownies by Michael Kors so that I could have my morning mimosa with the crowd. I got all gussied up with an outfit I had picked at the Michael Kors Collection (3rd floor Mtl) and hit the Canal Lounge to snap pics.

As I opened my computer to indulge in a New York fashion show, I definitely missed the energy and thrill of it all, but I still got the best takeaway of the show: THE FASHION. And of course, the celebrities.

Kendall Jenner hit the runway and there was something so Hepburn-esque about her look. I absolutely gushed. But she wasn’t the only one people were talking about - there was @CamilaCoelho, @bretmanrock, @sarasampaio, @dovecameron, @hoskelsa, @kathudson, and so many more. Between the bloggers and the celebs, it was a veritable who’s who of fashion and Hollywood. Paloma Elser (@palomija) rocked her look and Tony-nominated @arianadebose slayed her performance.

My look inspired me to head straight to the water. I pulled together more of a fall look because let’s face it, Montreal is starting to cool down and we get only a few weeks to break out those blazers! My camo-print trouser is more of a chino fit and perfect for work, day, dinner, or vacation. I paired it with a blazer that picked up on tones but offset the pattern (you know how I love to mix and match!). The woven bag is basically the it bag of the season. I love the foldover aspect and holding a clutch has become too integral to any outfit these days, it was impossible to pair with anything else. And finally, my leopard-print shoes, calf hair and all, is the perfect pump to elongate the silhouette and pack an added punch to the fall look.

Even though I wasn’t physically there, I loved being part of the digital experience and seeing how brands are going that extra mile to include those who aren’t able to be present. The venues are smaller and attendance is limited, so just being invited was such an honour! So happy I didn’t miss my fave time of year: Fashion Week!
