Celebrating You

There are but few times that we stop and take stock of a friendship. An honest look into how it all began, what it means, and why it takes up space that you unknowingly keep sharing. We do this rarely because we live it and feel no need to pause and reflect on it. But then a friend, a friend who means so much to you, makes a life decision that will change your friendship in some way, and you are forced to stop and think.

Well, Nicole. This one’s for you. My dear friend of over 25 years. A friend who has been present in ALL moments of life and who has shown up in so many beautiful ways. As a friend, as a cheerleader, as a shoulder, as a protector, as an instigator and party starter, as a companion and gentle force.

This year you’ve decided that Montreal will no longer be where you reside, but we both know that Montreal will forever be your home. The place where you can always return and find family and friends. I am beyond excited for this next step in your journey, Ibiza doesn’t even know what’s about to hit it!

But before you move forward, I want to look back. This past year you published a book: Master of Single. And wow what a book it is! Such an incredible show of strength to sit for years (because that is how long it takes) and pull together a story that is forceful, empowering, and oh so very truthful. You radiate positivity on each one of those pages and while I read it, I just pictured you there, by your computer, remembering the stories of your life; the ones that shaped you.

When I read the chapter about my bachelorette, I am immediately brought back to a time that we shared together and how important you’ve always been to me. You are a daily reminder that perseverance will get you where you want to go. Your energy and outlook on life are an unbeatable combination and every party is better when I hear your laugh fill the room.

This post is for you Nicole, but it’s also for all the friends we share and memories we’ve had together, including this very photoshoot to commemorate us and Patricia, my freakin awesome photographer and friend. Every experience we have is another one for my bank of memories.

I wish you joy and happiness, love and peace. Ibiza is lucky to have you. I can’t wait to come visit and see the life you build for yourself out there. Perhaps Master of Single part 2, or perhaps No Longer Single part 1… who knows what awaits! Big love and courage. XO
