New York Fashion Week 2022

Fashion, fashion, fashion… always on my mind. But something about September makes it impossible to think about anything else. Might it be the Pavlovian association I have with New York Fashion Week? I’d venture an easy YES!

I put a whole bunch of looks together this year for New York Fashion Week. Some of my favourites saw the likes of Michael Kors, ba&sh Paris, Revolve and Tibi. I mixed and matched prints, drew from varied style guides, and I got playful yet stayed slightly more sophisticated than usual.

Michael Kors has these incredible prints and patterns that absolutely inspire me in so many ways. They can be dressed up for a formal occasion or can be styled for a cocktail party, work meeting, or day on the town. I styled my Leopard print Georgette Pleated dress with the Stretch Wool boyfriend Blazer for more reasons than one (yes, weather was a major contributor to my fashion decision). I pulled it together with a Dover over-the-knee boot and the Parker medium crossbody bag.

My second Michael Kors look was a stunning, sleek pants suit. And yes, nothing else but the pants suit. MK has a whole variety of trousers to choose from to fit your body type. I opted for an ankle-length pant that hit just above my nude pumps. I paired the blazer with a plunging neckline, a pair of sunnies, and well, nothing else.

The ba&sh look made it to my top 5 for obvious reasons: that two-tone patterns is just so eye-catching! Ba&sh has a Gianna skirt and Gala shirt that create the combo look, but I went for the Gatien trouser instead. Elongating and flatteringly fluid, I love these pants styled with boots and a leather jacket or stilettos and a cami.

Styling white pants after Labour Day has been the subject of debate for years. Honestly, I have a strong stance: white pants any day of the year works for me! Especially in the cool winter season, cozy fall days, and obvi in the sunny summer. So, I guess maybe spring would be the season I feel least passionately about, but I bet I can be proven wrong. Revolve has a great selection of white, beige, off-white, neutral-tone pants from denim to leather to cotton. I paired my wide-leg pleated trouser with a v-neck brown patterned She’s All that Sweater by Free People to bring in the depth of the season.

A crispy white short paired with a black fringe top and a cropped plaid blazer… who would think that the look would work so well!? Tibi is a women’s ready-to-wear designed with Creative Pragmatism. What’s that, you ask? Well Amy Smilovic founded Tibi in 1977 and has always designed with functional creativity, a combo that resonates with my chill, fresh, and sensible fashion sense.

Five looks for one outstanding Fashion Week. New York, I always love the inspo you spark in me! Until next time ;)
