Dare to Wear Colour: Pink & Orange

In an era of LBD (little black dresses), white parties, and t-shirt and jeans, I’ve made it a point to explore the exuberant energy the colours of our rainbow have to offer.

No, of course, I’m not doing away with old classics, but I am going to Dare to Wear bold colours in everything from monochromatic looks to layered hues with accent shades. I recently embarked on a new journey with the amazing @ritualdailyclub. I was curious what it was all about and I wanted to try something new – I can say with confidence that my eyes have been opened wide to new energies and practices that are helping me raise my vibration.

I’ll go through all of the things I’ve been challenged to dive into in another blog post, but for today, the first of a 5-part series, I will touch on COLOUR and why dressing based on mood can amplify your vibration and set the tone for the day.

Colours have psychological power that, if tapped into, can impact everyone you come into contact with. The colour pink, for example, is a comforting colour of love and compassion. It carries with it a calm and playful spirit and brings warmth into your life. Wearing a full pink blazer and pantsuit (from @zara) bursts with femininity, romance, and intuition. A head-to-toe look complete with pink Manolo Blahniks, I tossed and turned about which purse was a better match – the Valentino or Gucci – each bringing with it a certain edge. My Jacques Marie Mage sunglasses, although not pink, rounded out the day look.

Working on balancing my feminine energy, a full pink outfit softened my energy. Harmonizing my colour blocking through fashion choices, I have also been practicing daily gratitudes and reading more. I channeled my enthusiastic and joyful nature as I experimented with orange.

So here’s the thing about orange – unlike pink, I don’t think orange is necessarily a colour one can pull off from top to bottom. Instead, it’s about bringing in the orange palette and playing with a range. I chose linen and beige to play up the orange and nestle in the subtlety of orange’s optimism with my creative energy. Meant to stimulate communication, orange sets the table for open conversation and strong emotional energy.

My Praise t-shirt tucked neatly into my Zara pants created a long silhouette with this put-together casual look. My summer necklace from Summer Memories x Mlle Jules again brought in layers of texture and our natural world’s wondrous elements. Nike Air Jordan’s (from Oak) in corals and salmon picked up on the day’s theme and then, of course, the perfect basket-weave bag to bring it all together from Bottega Venetta. Again, a day look, I accented with Ray Ban sunglasses to highlight the sunny summer vibe.

Staying balanced is more than a mind and body practice, it’s also about what you eat, think, wear, say, and so much more. I love to express myself through fashion, so discovering new ways to layer in energy through what I wear felt like a fun and easy expression of the work I’m doing with Melissa @ritualdailyclub
