MY Z&V OOTD

Ok, so we don’t have many places to go in our current state, but… that does not mean we can’t dress up! If you know me at all, then you know there is almost nothing in the world that could stop me from styling my wardrobe and putting on an outfit!

I believe it took about 3.5 seconds after shops reopened that I was hitting the town and running my hands along all of those wonderfully indulgent fabrics and textures that I’d been reading about. Of course I found my way through the zillions of online shopping sites, but there’s nothing like touching the real thing, seeing how it fits and experiencing it all in person.

We aren’t hitting the resto scene or dancing it up in bars and clubs, but, we are gathering in intimate settings, having backyard dinners and girl’s night drinks. Needless to say, ample opportunity to get dressed up!

I hit Zadig & Voltaire because they are probably one of my favourite brands to indulge in: from the customer service at the local Westmount boutique to the design and fit of their collection, I knew my visit would just hit the spot. I wanted to treat myself to something new and fresh and I found more than I bargained.

It just so happened that everything I reached for was on sale – lucky me! The patterns and colours this season are so bright and bold, and of course, the boho trend is still going strong, so I saw a lot of flowing skirts with lace detail (mine linked here) and loose-fitting camis (mine linked here) and shirts. The dresses were draping and flirty and there’s nothing like that rich fabric caressing your skin to make you feel like a fashion queen.

Zadig & Voltaire never ceases to amaze me – their new mission Art is Hope is part of a larger collective social-justice initiative to donate money to the Black Lives Matter movement. With customized art curated to fit their collection, Jormi Graterol, Cecilia Bönström, Playlab Inc, and Najee Dorsey have pulled together pieces that will help the greater cause toward quality in our world.

It’s been a while since I put on an outfit and wasn’t just hanging around the house or taking a walk in the neighbourhood – things are finally lifting and as we all break free from our homes (slowly and carefully, of course) it feels amazing to get all dressed up. It’s the meaning behind it that makes me smile – I think it just means that we are getting closer and closer to a new version of real life. I hope. Maybe I’ll just keep dressing up just in case!
