Vacation Looks

You know when you go on a vacation and it takes less than 3 days for you to start dressing like the locals!? From harem pants and macramé scarfs, I am guilty of taking on local customs and I have to say, it’s probably my favourite way to learn about a culture: fashion!

Whenever I’m away, I always immerse myself 100% - you have to, how else are you really going to get a lay of the land. I listen, I observe, I learn – I taste, I feel, I walk around and chat with people. Second to none, just throwing yourself into the space is the best way to absorb as much as possible.

On my trip to Tulum I soaked up every single moment: from food and music to beach life and shopping. It didn’t take much for me to become obsessed with Tulum, the culture has so much to offer. Between Yoga every morning and feeling so spiritually centered, I think I felt more me there than any other place – ok, maybe Morocco too… and I love Miami… oh man, do I miss travelling, lol!

While away I noticed that everything people wore or sat on or lounged around in was made with these natural fabrics. Organic raw material that felt amazing on the skin. It just felt like the perfect lightweight material to drape on my body whether at the beach as a cover up or with a pair of cute sandals to walk around in.

I brought it back with me and I reach for it as an easy go-to for the lakefront. It feels like a bathrobe, but is so super stylish – I even wear it while hosting an easy lunch outdoors or early evening snack or drink. There’s always that little souvenir we bring back with us that reminds us of a time spent away, and this is my piece. What’s your favourite travel memento?
