My New Adventure

Sometimes inspiration hits like a thunder bolt—out of nowhere and all at once—and sometimes it’s this slow accumulation of creativity that you don’t even realize is happening until it’s there, undeniably, staring you in the face. That’s a bit what happened to me over the past year and well, here we are… my new adventure!

Over the past year, I’ve put out a couple super inspiring, really fun collaboration. Getting a chance to work with artisans and entrepreneurs, I’ve gotten some incredible field experience and have met some amazing people. After dabbling a bit with homeware, jewellery, and self-care, to name a few, I’ve tapped into my creative energy and am letting it guide me. What I learned is that I can’t stop thinking, ideating, creating, and designing jewellery!

Next week marks the official launch of my very first solo jewellery collection! The Mademoiselle Jules brand is all about funky statement pieces that dares the wearer to play with fashion. Accessories are a powerful way to transform even the simplest of outfits into wild runway looks. And I truly believe that with the right jewellery, clothing comes alive.

It’s all about mixing and matching the right pieces with the right garments… the rest is magic! That’s basically the kernel of truth I started from in designing my line. I wanted the pieces to mingle, but not only in using similar gems across different pieces, but actually by allowing the charms to be interchangeable. But, I’m getting ahead of myself!

First, let’s talk about the first drop, or shall I say, parure. A parure, for those who don’t know, means a set of jewels meant to be worn together. Think of it as an accessories outfit. Now that we are all brushed up on vocab, my first parure includes 4 unique pieces that work together to create, what I think is the perfect set.

Launching for Lunar New Year was no coincidence. In an amazing twist of fate, this year is the year of the tiger on the Chinese calendar. In my personal life, the year of the tiger holds a lot of significance. Both my eldest daughter and my father share the tiger in common and even more supernaturally, they both land on the gold tiger, which happens once every fifty years!

The collection is inspired by the colour red, because there is so much weight and meaning that can be found in the richness of our primary colour. Symbolizing courage, passion, protection, and creativity, red truly packs a lot of importance. I’m also featuring a pearl necklace laced on red string - and for those who know me, that is double magic. Between my birthstone and the powerful, protective red string, this necklace is my piece de resistance.

Each piece comes with its own story, and trust me, over the course of the next little bit, I’ll immerse you in my thinking process and give you an all-access pass into how I went about creating each piece, but for now, suffice to say that Lucky Red, Rainbow Road, For the Love of Jules, and Two is Better Than One, are just the beginning of what I hope will be a long-standing love affair with all things fashion!
