Michael Kors x NYFW 2023

New York Fashion Week 2023 brought out some amazing artistry. Inspiring collection filled with statement looks and retro style, it was a feast for the eyes.

I hit the Michael Kors show and was instantly struck by the insane crowd they drew in. Everyone from Kate Hudson, Mindy Kaling and Katie Holmes to the one-and-only Anna Wintour.

The fashion show brought a 70s feel for their autumn/winter collection. Inspired by the likes of Jane Fonda, Tina Turner, and apparently, Michael Kors’ very own mom, the show was filled with powerful women stomping the runway in fringed dresses and the all-time classic: the suit.

Classic American looks from the 70s brought out pieces like oversized fringed coats, thick leather belts, and bell bottoms (can’t believe we are doing all this again!), along with oversized glasses.

Incidentally, the throwback felt timeless. So put together, so polished, so feminine, and so powerful – I absolutely loved the collection and am looking forward to getting creative on pairing some pieces together.

The colorway brought out neutrals and earthy tones, giving the whole collection an urban bohemian feel, or as we say in French bourgeois-bohème (classic bobo).

I pulled together a look that combined that power suit feel with a flowy, feminine dress. The Embellished Crepe Blazer brought the element of sparkle and glam to the Pleated Georgette Midi Dress, which for me is timeless, romantic, and playful all at once.

What I saw on the runway when it came to the blazers was spot on with what I envisioned – a twist on a staple, like embellishments, slits, sparkle, or a little something extra to give it that je ne sais quoi.

I absolutely loved the movement and fluidity of the fabrics and looks. Normally with suits and some classic American styles, you’ll find structure and rigidity in the pieces themselves, not to mention the way they are pulled together. But Michael Kors truly showed up for the female form and took smart tailoring to a whole other level.

Elegant, eye-catching, totally wearable, all of the accessories took center stage. I wore the Parker Medium Leather Crossbody Bag, a supple leather, versatile carryall. It carried me through day-to-night with its practical storage and crossbody strap. All my jewelry is from my Mademoiselle Jules upcoming collection – can’t wait to share with you guys!
