Top 5 Fall Jackets

As Canadians we have both the pleasure and the challenge of dressing for 4 extreme seasons. Although I could probably say hands down that summer is the easiest season to fall in love with, I think the fall doesn’t get the attention it deserves. I love the auburn colours, the layering, the falling leaves, the fresh, crisp air and ahhh, the fall jackets.

I’ve always been a huge fan of the obvious jean jacket, I am a 90s girl after all, and I’ve also been known to rock a leather jacket in my day. But, this fall, I’ve opted for a few trendier pieces that have truly upped my outfits more than just a notch. Here are my top 5 favourite fall jackets of 2020:

I have a lot to say about Mackage and I’m not shy to write a post or two about them (lol!), because honestly, when a brand gets it right every time, it’s hard not to send some serious praise their way. I am in love with this double-faced wool double-breasted jacket. The Edina has found its way into many a outfit the last few weeks and I know I’ll push straight through until our first blizzard before I hang it up until spring.

uniqlo

Uniqlo has finally opened a store in Montreal and every single human in our city flocked to their pearly gates! The future is here, lol! But seriously, the Future LifeWear essentials, designed by Artistic Director Christophe Lemaire and the rest of the Parisian dream team, has made its way and now we all have Uniqlo essentials whenever we want them! Modern, sleek and super simple, that’s the everyday clothing of Uniqlo and it’s the reason why they have such lasting power.

isabel-marant

Fall isn’t complete without a little plaid, am I right? I have a soft spot for Isabel Marant and when this beige wool Gabriel blanket coat caught my eye, well, I bought it, haha! I love love love how soft it is, I am addicted to the colour palette and the length, are you kidding me!? It’s design perfection. For someone like me who likes to spend a lot of time outdoors, hiking or just sitting by the lake up north, it is imperative to invest in warmth – it makes the coldest day feel cozy. Oh, and it’s stunning!

Although I like to get out of the city as often as I can, you can’t quite take the city out of this girl. Trends, style, and fashion-forward looks still make their way into my wardrobe and this fall my fashion choice took shape in this incredible Wool Lamarque coat with leather bib – the perfect hourglass jacket that fits seamlessly with that street look or evening outfit (not that we’re going anywhere any time soon, but a girl can dream!)

Last, but certainly not least, another one of my top brands lately, the Praise quarter-zip Sherpa. Sherpa has really made its way into everyone’s closets this year. Everywhere I turn, I see fleece and Sherpa on every corner. I mean, it really did take a long time for designers to find a way to make it look pretty and feminine, and I have to say, Praise hit it out of the park with the river tapioca hoodie with a kangaroo pocket. Uber stylish thrown over any denim or legging look, and you are guaranteed to be extremely warm. I think it’ll be my go-to apres ski!

I have amassed a few (dozen) fall jackets over the years and I’m excited to share my favourites with you… I’m also curious what your favourites are because as I said, we Canadians get cold during our long winter season! Hand those recos over!
