Mackage Has You Covered

Spring is in the air, but the winds are still blowing and the scent is still crisp. So next time you plan to go for a nice walk outdoors (socially distant, of course), plan for a stylish way to dress up your promenade :)

For anyone who has a passion for fashion, our cold-weather season can be long and enduring. Snow can literally kill fashion vibes. Nothing like getting a stunning outfit together and then walking out of the house with winter boots on (sling backs in bag) and bulky down jacket to weather the season’s storm. Well, I believe it was 1999, a year a long time ago, when Eran Elfassy originally founded Mackage. It was only two years later that Elisa Dahan joined him in the ranks and together they created a high-fashion jacket sensation that created a storm of its own.

Luxurious outerwear for the fashionista and functionalist alike, Mackage was born from chilly winters, but can also withstand the trends of NYC runways. The driving question that inspired their collections of coats was: how to make the puffy coat sexy?

Currently stocked in 27 markets, Mackage found the answer they were searching for. Elevating outerwear to that unique place in the market where fashion meets function, they’ve balanced a blend of textures and fabrics from wool, down, and leather to create silhouettes that fit to form. The precision and attention to detail on each piece brings their designs to high levels of sophistication, individuality and a brand that is uniquely identifiable.

Changing the outerwear game and creating a niche in the market, Mackage is a serious fan favourite amongst the colder markets, but make no mistake, they’ve nuzzled their way into pockets of the market that see colder breezes as well with their streetwear and leather collections.

Mackage also has a bunch of accessories and streetwear essentials. I have a red look going with accents in my hat (Jude), purse (Darcy) and the coziest sweater (Krys). Rather than covering my New York Fashion Week outfit with an oversized coat, I paired my look with an added layer that is integrated and adds an extra element of cool and relaxed with the Eve dropped shoulder wool coat (it comes in white too and I’m obsessed!). This outfit reminds me of cool, fresh air as we all traipsed the streets of NYC just a few weeks back. - feels like such a long time ago!

Perhaps it was the overnight stardom that the Duchess of Sussex (aka Meghan Markle) brought to the brand when she was photographed wearing the Canadian brand. The truth is, whether it was the navy “Elodie” that pushed things full throttle, or the simple art of a great brand that continues to create success for Mackage, we are the fortunate ones who no longer need to cover up our outfits 7 months of the year. Now, instead, we have an added layer of fashion expression.

Feminine shapes, intricate design, ready-to-wear fashion, Mackage slim-fitting, draping or puffy coats are trend-forward, sexy, powerful and best of all, super warm. With a focus on quality and a serious nod to our Montreal weather to continue to inspire their art and design, Mackage makes our longest season more bearable and definitely more stylish! Even though our new reality has us socially distanced, it does not mean we are stuck indoors… so grab that jacket, bundle up, and enjoy some fresh air. Stretch it out, power walk, and look fabulous while doing it - all of this will be over soon!
